Post Operative Steroids
I am now home after having a new knee fitted. They kept me in an extra night due to being in surgery much longer than anticipated and low sodium levels, so saline drip overnight. I am guessing I was given more anaesthesia than planned, I am finding that I am more tired than I've ever felt. I can

2x Emergency Steroids in one month
I went to the dr on Tuesday and he was reluctant to prescribe me anything because I'd just had a course of
steroids
but I was back again today and, for the first time in my memory, my PF was at 50%, my O2 wouldn't go above 95% and I had that elusive wheeze 🥳 so I'm back on

and also antibiotics

Vasculitis Treatment 2
Hello, tomorrow I have my 2nd vasculitis treatment (high-dose
steroids
plus rituximab) and just wondering if there is much difference between the 1st and 2nd treatment in terms of reactions and side effects? Grateful for any feedback, thank you.

Lung crackles
I keep getting lung crackles and wheezing at the end of respiratory infections and needing
steroids
. The GP isn't interested and I always end up in A and E , given a nebuliser and a course is
steroids
to take home.

A thank you to this site
I resisted
steroids
for almost 6 months and worked on diet and alternative treatments. Eventually I realised that
steroids
were the only route! Reading through my notes reminded me of how helpful this site was on my steroid journey. I came off
steroids
in June 2018 and have had no relapse.

Swollen red cheek andslight jaw pain on one side.
Great improvement on
steroids
. Yesterday she had slight jaw pain and this morning her face is red and swollen. Could this be a flare. She is on 20mg per day of prednisolone.

intralipids or steroids for final embryo!
We are going to introduce blood thinning injections,
steroids
and or possibly intralipids. However this is an NHS round so we are only allowed to add these in on a self funded basis after transfer.

Chest infection without steroids
Wondering if I should take my rescue
steroids
. I would rather not take them for the third time in four months. Does anyone ever take antibiotics but not the
steroids
? Last cold, it was worse and I hit 390 but maybe this time I will do so as well without
steroids
. thanks

Not a flare
good morning everyone Last week I posted about hip pain and possible flare and asked for advice re
steroids
. I took the advice of the wise people who replied to me and saw a doctor, he put me on antibiotics and
steroids
, was obviously far more concerned about the cough and breathlessness.

Tapering experience
Maybe it takes a much larger dose of
steroids
to bring it under control and a slower taper to manage the ongoing illness. I appreciate your thoughts.

Steroids and blood-sugar...
I wonder if the hunger and desire to eat that many people feel when they experience low blood-sugar may be the reason that people put on weight when on
steroids
. They feel hungry and they eat rather more than they actually need to correct the low blood-sugar.

NK cells and pcos -steroids or hydroxychloroquine?
Reading about the
steroids
a side effect is insulin resistance which I already have and am predisposed to both gestational diabetes and type 2 diabetes due to my PCOS and also a family history.

Advice on PMR for lawyer
c) 'There is no risk to my health from PMR, the only risk is from my use of
steroids
, so I should be weaned off the
steroids
as soon as possible', d) The ongoing use of
steroids
beyond 5 years could imply addiction, which leads to even more serious health risks and will shorted my life considerably,

I wonder if you have seen the article Pro on even small doses of
steroids
on cardiovascular health. Seems to be a British research article. Don't know how to share the link.NIHR. Ac. Uk
