What's your ACTUAL risk of heart disease?
If your doctor tells you that you have "high cholesterol" and are therefore at risk of heart disease, ask him for a CAC scan before he doses you up on
statins
.

Microvascular Angina (CSX)
I am on beta blockers,
statins
, Angina medication, blood thinners the usual medication. All recent test results are clear as expected with MVA. I have now had to give up work as I have been off since December last year when I was admitted into hospital for a week as I have quite a sever attack.

Should I get on the statins conveyor belt
Following a blood test at my doctors they came up with a score of 15% as the likelihood of me having a heart attack etc in the next 10 years. I've looked at the test and it scoring mechanism and it seems very rough and ready to me. Also, it doesn't fit with the way I feel. I am a healthy 66 man who runs

Statin muscle pain
I understand that
statins
can cause muscle and joint pains. I have been on Atorvastatin for about nine months and not had much issue but recently seem to have developed some muscular pain around the upper chest and especially some aches around my collar bone. Have others had similar issues ?

Does being allergic to antibiotics act as a precursor to GCA ?
I started on Prednosolne 40mg coming down to 12.1/2mg then up to 20mg, now 19mg.Over time I have come on and off Hyroxychlorine,Azathioprine and

leaving just Pred and disprin.

Restenosis. Any one experienced this or had it reoccur?
Apparently restenosis happens as a result of bodies reaction to inflammation nothing to do with plaque or chloresterol ( my level is good) I am now taking increased
statins
as they can reduce inflammation. Now worried it may happen again. Has anyone out there experienced this or had it reoccur?

PCa Mortality & Statins
Two things jump out: i) "supporting a cholesterol-based mechanism" "Ample evidence exists in support of the potent anti-inflammatory properties of
statins
." [2] I have long wondered whether a significant part of the benefit of
statins
is due to this, rather than cholesterol inhibition.

Very Interesting! Heart patients taking statins face a higher risk of type 2 DIABETES.
side effects •Dutch scientists have now added to the scientific row with their latest findings •Around 6million people in Britain and 30million in US are thought to take

. I've outlined my history below.

Leg pain
Could this be
Statins
, as have heard that this can cause leg pains ... but it is predominantly in my right leg ? Any advice would be appreciated.

My cholesterol has always been a problem for me – even with
statins
it doesn’t go down to what my doctor would like and as the
statins
don’t suit me, I am always fighting to stay off them and I haven’t taken them for over a year now – so very pleased with that result.

Statins v Fibrates
I am one of the many who can't tolerate
statins
and my GP gave me Bezalip Mono a slow release fibrate which I took for a few months without any issues. Went for a test and my cholesterol was 5.5 and my GP wanted it lower so changed me to Fenofibrate.
