Restenosis. Any one experienced this or had it reoccur?

I had a NSTMI last August and had one stent fitted. All was fine until about 2 months ago when I started becoming increasingly breathless and then developed stable Angina. Finally had another Angiogram -original stent was 98% blocked! They widened it and put in a drug coated balloon to coat sides of original stent with drugs. Apparently restenosis happens as a result of bodies reaction to inflammation nothing to do with plaque or chloresterol ( my level is good) I am now taking increased statins as they can reduce inflammation. Now worried it may happen again. Has anyone out there experienced this or had it reoccur?

Stents within stents is becoming more common these days, you have to remember that once a stent is fitted it cannot be removed.

My husband had a 2 stents in 1999 after a heart attack. 6 months in he started to complain about chest pain. He went through all the testing and was told no problem - it must be all in his head. After he continued to complain the doc agreed to do an angiogram just to prove it was all in his head. He headed into the procedure-30 minutes later the doc called me in and told me he was a walking time bomb. The stents had all closed. 10 minutes later he was in surgery and had a 5-way bypass. That was 20 years ago. Stents have improved since then but are not infallible. We were fortunate that our doctor did an angiogram-the Gold Standard of diagnosis for clogged arteries.

Hope your husband did well after his bypass. I took me a little while to convince people that there really was a problem too. Glad I did otherwise I could have been in real trouble.
