Someone, please, push me off the couch!!!
Dr said go on
statins
now. I refused Rx so was given 6 months to make a change. Running was one of my goals along with weight management. I've dropped 2 dress sizes but I'm still freightened to run. Yesterday I finally broke down and purchased a few jogging outfits and some trainers.

Statins and Nerve Damage (Peripheral Neuropathy): An Overlooked Side Effect!
Most clinicians also acknowledge that
statins
are also linked to type 2 diabetes. There is far less agreement about
statins
and nerve damage (aka peripheral neuropathy or polyneuropathy).

Following blood tests my GP has advised that I start
statins
. However, I have reviewed my diet and reduced the consumption of a number of fatty foods (50%). So I plan to not start the
statins
until I have another blood test. How long should I leave it before requesting another blood test?

New research finds an elevated risk of type 2 diabetes among people who take statins in an effort to lower their cholesterol levels.
Among
statins
' unwanted effects may be an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, new research suggests. Many people take
statins
to lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of cardiovascular events, such as coronary heart disease and heart attacks.

I hope this will inspire you on your running journey
And I mean I no longer use my inhalers, I no longer take
statins
, my snoring has all but stopped, my sleep apnea is gone, and my legs have stopped trembling and I am no longer kicking out and injuring myself at night.

New to this group
I don’t want to take
statins
, I tried them once years ago and within a couple of weeks I could barely walk and was SO depressed, besides I eat half a grapefruit every day and I don’t really want to have to stop that.

A good example is the negativity against
statins
. Whilst I will agree they have been over prescribed mainly for healthy middle aged and above people with no real cholesterol problem they have many benefits.

Thyroid levels / cholesterol link
I do not want to take
statins
- tried it once and could barely walk after two weeks - Ideally I’d like to persuade her to try some levothyroxine to bring my TSH down to around 1 which was the level where I felt better than I do now.

New to site - diagnosed hypothyroidism with high cholesterol
I expect dr will want me to go on
statins
which I am reluctant to do as I also saw something about them not being good for those with under active thyroid. I have family history of heart disease - father died of heart attack at 58 and his mother at 64 of heart attack.

For those on statins: adding dipyridamole might be a good idea
the drug dipyridamole can be used to block statin-induced SREBP activation and augment apoptosis in statin-insensitive PCa cells. In this study fluvastatin was used, maybe not the best option against PCA. Dipyridamole can be taken instead/with aspirin, and there is a version with aspirin in it (Aggrenox

Statins And Fake News
It seems that up to 1 in 3 may not be taking their prescribed
statins
because of the negativity around
statins
in the media and elsewhere. As a result many people may be shortening their lives.

Statins cause heart failure
I just read a link on one of the posts about
statins
quoting a report from 2015 and published in the Clinical review of Pharmacology . It states that
statins
can cause heart failure by damaging the heart muscle. Does anyone know if this is true as it's very concerning if it is.

Recent "research"
These people are likely to be prescribed
statins
which cause calcification in the arteries as well as lowering of cholesterol, to suggest that if the taker also takes vitamin D that is the culprit is rubbish.
