After being pushed back and fourth from my doctor to my consultant.
My consultant has finally agreed that is ok to take a Coq10 supplement to work against the statins I need to take.
So does anyone on here take them? And where can I get the best CoQ10 from?I heard the best is ubiquiol
Don't want to use Holland and barret as there too expensive and Amazon is ok but weary of what I'm getting? Also do any of you see the benefits?I understand they help with cellular rebuilding that statins destroy (Lovely drug)Not considering data says statins only add about an extra 4days to your life...or was it years?lol...I will opt for the latter

I’ve read Ubiquiol is better absorbed, and I use amazon or boots, but yes it is very expensive . Not sure it’s a supplement you feel working, be more likely to “ eventually “ notice that you didn’t take it. . If you get what I mean.
Yes I take it even though I stopped the statins. I figured it’s good for our hearts anyway, only take 100mgs once a day. I have plaque in many places unfortunately, had a duplex yesterday and there has been some reduction 😁😁. Really bad velocity in one vessel of only 7.5 is now 21! That’s a change in 5 months! I don’t fully understand it all by a long way but I did understand that numbers increasing is good! Although some of my narrowings are still pretty bad at over 50%. Waiting for docs report to come.
Are we allowed to say on here starts with lamb and ends with erts. I have taken on together on advice from Osteo, so can't honestly say whether they work, though my knees ache, maybe they would have anyway.
I have taken statins for over 4 years and my joints and muscles have suffered. Ive been to the doctors and changed to different statins which didn’t help. Ive now decided to give them up for a few months and stick with a bowl of porridge every morning.
I had muscle aches (particularly shoulders) with Simvastatin. Someone suggested CoQ10. I brought some (H&B - very expensive) and found it had zero effect. A change to Atorvastatin overcame the issues.
After a year on simvastatin ( Atorvastatin didn't suit me) I've been really struggling lately especially knees and shoulders. I have fIbromyalgia, nerve damage, peripheral neuropathy and T 12 syndrome so it's hard to know if that just got worse or if it's he statin. Will be speaking to my GP about Q10 very soon.
I tried Simvastatin, Atorvastatin and Pravastatin all with varying effects on my muscles. As I walk the hills for exercise, I found it really painful and these drugs all limited what I could achieve. Now I am on Rosuvastatin I am fine. The first couple of tablets gave me a headache, then after that I was fine.
