Eplerenone
I'm thinking of asking my GP to prescribe me eplerenone for my hypertension. I have read the one or two reports about Spironolactone v Eplerenone. Eplerenone seems to have better outcomes, less sie effects though expensive.

Peripheral Odema & Cirrhosis
Hi all, I am a frequent reader of the excellent posts on this site. I have alcoholic cirrhosis, which is well managed with very few complications and have been alcohol-free for three years. Į recently put on weight mainly around my stomach and legs. A recent abdominal scan confirmed that I have no ascites

Undiagnosed Pelvic, Urethral, and Vaginal Pain / Itch / Bloating
I'm desperate for any help / guidance. I went off of the birth control pill back in September 2018. Since then, I've had a slight vaginal itch, but it seemed to go away when I'd get my next period. I got my period every 55 days off of the pill, until February 3, 2019. That was the date of my last period

Fat ankles/feet again...
I was really suffering from side effects when taking Spironolactone so my GP told me to stop - the fat ankles are back with a vengeance... what a lovely (British term) affliction this is!!

Has anyone had Ascites disappear, but then return?
Hi all, New to the forum. Ascites was what brought me to the doctor in the first place in April. I had already been diagnosed with fatty liver two years prior. I was told to loose weight. I did. 30 pounds. Sadly I never had any follow up. My doc did lab work, and imaging. For sure liver was not

Spironolactone - Sore Nipples
About 5 weeks ago I was prescribed Spironolactone to help with my Edema, it worked very well but I now have extremely tender nipples that seem to have a solid mass behind them. Has anyone else had this reaction? Did stopping the Spironolactone solve it?

Spironolactone withdrawal?
Hi all, I was stage 4 cirrhosis with ascites, and took the diuretic spiro for over 12 months, which (along with alcohol abstinence) got me to re-compensated stage 2 with no ascites. Since then I have tapered the spiro, and 2 weeks ago quit completely. So far, thankfully I have not had any rebound gaining

Dermatologist who will prescribe spironolactone (London)
Hi everyone - I’m getting really fed up/down about my thinning hair, hair on face etc. I’m on the pill but not making any difference. I’ve read a lot about spironolactone being an option, but I’m not sure how to go about getting it prescribed. Do any GPs or should I go straight to a dermatologist, and

Barts today.
Well I am due at Barts today for review. Af been busy last few months. Running over 110 much of the time. So expect I will have to have something 'orrible' done again before long. (3 ablations already). 3rd pm due within 12 months. Been taking furosemide 40 mg. Otherwise I gain weight quickly.

Medication confusion!
Okay, I am easily confused. Was prescribed Spironolactone in hospital and was already on vitamin B and Thiamine. No side effects apart from excessive weeing which is obviously the whole point. I was prescribed Omaprazole on discharge from hospital plus antibiotics- 4 via drip in hospital, one before

Water tablets problem
I was diagnosed with Heart failure last November and it was a real shock to me. I am on the normal cocktail of drugs for this condition including Fusemide and Spirolactone which are water tablets. I am coping ok apart from have an urgent desire to go to the toilet many times after taking the water tablets

Itching side effect to heart meds?
Good morning all, I take Apixaban, Atorvastatin, Bisoprol, Ramipril and Spironolactone. The itching on my back is driving me mad, I've put up with it for a while but it's got worse recently. I didn't get this until i'd been taking the meds for some time but assume it must be a side effect of one or more

Spirolactone and horniness
I’m on 150mg of spirolactone a day , I’m literally having depression just because increasing the dose makes me more horny and more into sexual things but I still need the medication to combat pcos symptoms! Any thoughts on this ? 😢

Reducing Spironolactone
Hi Friends, My doctor has suggested lowering my Spiro from 75 to 50 as my clinical results have shown good improvement. Has anyone reduced their diuretic then had to go back up. I really don't want ascites back again....getting drained is no party. Smiles, Liz
