change from bisoprolol to sotalol
Has anyone changed from bisoprolol to Sotalol? I’ve been on 1.25 bisoprolol for a few years. After wearing a holter monitor for 7 days I met with an EP for the first time and he recommended I change to 80mg Sotalol to see if it stops my monthly (on average) 11 hour + AF episodes. I usually take flecanide

ablation done
Well some of you asked me to let you know how my ablation went. I was scared. Well I had it yesterday morning. It was worse than I thought it would be. The sedative and the morphine they gave me as an anaesthetic, made me dizzy and shaky and feeling nauseus, which lasted for quite a few hours afterwards

Back In AFib
Hi, I have been a member of this forum for years but not been for a while. I had a second ablation years ago and have had no AF at all until last night when I went into AF. I was able to see a doctor this morning who confirmed AF via an ECG, referred me to cardiology and put me back on Sotalol

Vivid dreams and disturbed sleep
I dread going to bed! I used to be such a good sleeper but since taking Sotalol I have suffered.Does anyone in this group who take Sotalol get the same problems? Often the dreams are so vivid and weird they wake me with my heart pounding and then I have to decide if it's triggered my afib. I must say

Sotalol - has anyone taken this medication before? Does anyone know how many years a person can take this medication?

Ablation
Here we go, I was expecting this when I saw my EP last night. Having breakthrough episodes of afib lasting over 30 hours whilst in Sotalol. My EP is not concerned about the frequency (paroxysmal afib) but the fact that they are lasting 30 hours plus he isn't happy with So, I was placed on his NHS waiting

sotalol side effects?
Hello everyone, I have had long term problems with beta blockers -that I take for my arrhythmia- metoprolol and bisoprolol as well as carvedilol have been problematic- but I have just started on a new one called Sotalol. I took 40mg of this drug an hour or so before bed, but five hours later was woken

Heart rates in Afib and NSR
When I was on Sotalol for paroxysmal Afib my heart rate was typically in the range 70 to 125 when in Afib and 60 to 75 in NSR, as measured on my Kardia. For the last month I have been on Flecainide and Verapamil. There now seems to little difference between Afib and NSR heart rates both being in the

Just been fitted with two lead pacemaker. Diagnosed with Tachy/brady and also put on sotalol beta blockers. Everybody keeps saying I should feel so much better but I don't. I am just left with no energy. I am usually very fit.

update to the return of AF/tachycardia and long talk with EP
Whistle stop tour of my history: Symptomatic AF since early 50’s( 67 now). 3TIAs previous to diagnosis. Anticoagulants and flecanide until flec caused elongation of PR interval. Ablation 1 partially successful Ablation 2 abandoned due to rare complication Controlled AF with Sotalol ( 120 mg x2)

Sotalol: good so far
After 3 days in hospital for drug loading, it looks as if Sotalol will be my rate and rhythm control drug. I chose this path over yet another ablation (my heart is pretty scared from the previous five ablations). However, if (when) this drug fails we’ll weigh pros and cons of a sixth ablation or a pace

Cardiac Ablation Looks Successful!
I was diagnosed with Paroxysmal Afib in April of 2022. During my annual physical my PCP heard what he thought was a murmur, and called in a consult. After testing the afib was confirmed. I never noticed it, but started monitoring with a smartwatch and began to feel the episodes as they progressed. This

Has anyone had problems with Flecainide not working?

Olive oil overdose
About 6 months ago, I had gum surgery to remove some bacteries. The dentist told me I could not chew nuts for some time. Nuts being so important in my anti afib diet, I mixed them with olive oil to make them softer, I found it delicious. I not only kept mixing the nuts with olive oil, I also mixed

AF and Singles Vaccine
Hi everyone. I am new to this forum, my history being a F73 and have had very symptomatic PAF since 2015 and was put on Sotalol, Pradaxa and amlodipine for BP. In 2018 I had a cryoablation and got off the Sotalol which was replaced by 2.5mg of Bisoprolol to help with BP. I have not had AF since which

Sotalol Drug Load
Scheduled to shift from Metoprolol and Diltiazem to Sotalol this next week. Choice of yet another ablation (6th one) was given but I figured, “why keep scarring up my heart?” Did I make the right decision? Seems to me ablations aren’t working and they just manage to damage my heart, albeit in a controlled

stopping sotalol
I have been waiting for a catheter ablation for over a year.I now have an appointment on 20th September at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester. I went to my pre-assessment yesterday (3rd time lucky. It’s been cancelled twice) They told me I have to stop the Sotalol for 2 days and as I ‘m on quite a high
