Strange Development
Good morning all, it's a lovely day on Englands south coast and the sun is shining. Getting to my question, I need advice please. Newly diagnosed in early May with PMR. Put on Pred 15mg all symptoms and pain disappeared the following day. Felt great and after 3 weeks tapered to 12.5mg. No issues. Further

Change of meds from Bisoprolol to Sotalol . I have asthma and copd so very scared.
Episodes of very fast PAF started in January 2013. My episodes are ALWAYS very fast - 170 - 210 . I take rivaroxaban and bisoprolol. Always go to A&E ( as told to do by docs) if heart rate remains over 150 for more than 2.5 /3 hrs. My heart usually returns to NSR within 3.5/ 4 hours , sometimes

Ablation or not? Help!!
Morning all, I’ve been on the waiting list for a year for an ablation and I have been offered an appointment this Friday to have it done. I think I’m getting cold feet now partly because of going into hospital whilst Covid is still about and also because I am dealing okay with my AF. I have four or five

What do you know about the side effects from taking Sotalol?
I have AF and the cardiologist prescribed Sotalol because of my abnormal heart beat. It made me fell like my heart was beating really fast but it wasn't, I had major shortness of breadth. Has anyone had similiar side effects from taking this drug?

Excessive Ectopics?
Hi all, any advice on this from you lovely people? Had ablation end of January and I've been recovering well until yesterday, just a few short runs of Af, less than a minute, no ectopics. Early on Saturday morning i started getting lots of ectopics, mostly 2 normal beats then a pause or 2 normal beats

Increased dose making my feel weird
I've been taking 80mg sotalol twice a day for several months but still getting atrial fibrillation making me feel like I'm going to pass out. Very scarey but last week in hospital had my evening dose increased to 120mg. This is making me feel very woozy, light headed etc. Will these symptoms settle down

Can’t Seem to Tolerate Any Drugs!
Hi again, Just an update & a question. I started Sotalol on Sunday and after having chest pain, shortness of breath & a pulse of 42 for the past 2 nights, I called my GP this morning who sent me to A&E. Had ECG, X-ray & bloods. They eventually let me home after stopping the Sotalol, and giving me

Another update - any thought gratefully received as always.
Hi again. I can’t thank you all enough for how much you’ve helped me in the past couple of months with this condition. It is so very much appreciated. Another update - I had a horrible episode at the weekend (148 HR for about 2 hrs - couldn’t stand up with dizziness) so spoke again to GP who asked

Stop the sotalol
After 12 years of Sotalol and episodes of PAF two cancelled cardiologist appointments one of which should of been tomorrow the doctor called this morning and said she had a letter from cardiologist saying stop the 240 sotalol and replace with 10 mg of Bisoprolol. Short bursts of af?
Hi. I am now almost three months post ablation and over the past month have had occasional days when I get short flutters as if I am going into af but then nothing happens. Each episode only lasts a few seconds. It usually goes on for an hour two. Before ablation I only had af rarely and alway started

Coronavirus and AF medicines could interact
There has been quite a bit of publicity about potential CV meds. The most promising is an anti-malarial drug, hydroxychloroquinone (chloroquine), particularly in combination with azithromycin (an antibiotic). However these drugs have a risk of Torsades de Pointes (TdP). Each of these drugs alone can

AF & Ablations
Reading through posts from our friends in The States, I was struck by the many references to ablation. I first became aware of having paroxysmal AF in 2011 and was treated with low dose Bisoprolol until I began to feel quite ill in late 2016. My AF has been permanent since then and I take Sotalol, Apixaban

What’s the best medications for Vagal afib?
I have Vagal AF. It has not been diagnosed by my cardiologist, he just says I have a fib, but I should eat slower. But it only happens mostly after I eat a big meal. I told him that I have never had afib until I was put on sotalol for high blood pressure. He seems to think that sotalol is the best medication

Bisporol 5mg versus Sotalol 80mg x 2 side effects!
Hi, Some advice needed. My son has been asked to change from Bisporol 5mg daily to Sotalol 80mg, twice a day. He’s been on Sotalol for a week and is eyes are all dry, he’s getting palpitations, tiredness and is breathing seems different. He’s 22 and on the autistic spectrum and it can be difficult

Dizziness after AF episode
Hi, Just coming out of my worse episode of AF. 4 days in and out, and my Doc is asking the Cardiologist for advice on increasing my Sotalol or swapping it out. Thought I'd got used to this by now, but although my HR has returned to normal, I'm left with this doom laden feeling, dizziness and irregular

Changing meds
Having to spend 3 days in hospital to restart sotalol. EP says upcoming knee replacement will cause major stress and fatigue, which are my biggest triggers for AFib. Had ablation in June, and have had a couple of episodes, all during times of stress and/or fatigue, Not a happy camper over this.

To Ablate or Not to Ablate
Hi everyone! I know this is a common dilemma facing AF patients like us. And now that I am facing it myself I really need to hear from you guys to help me decide as I am due for one (cryoablation) in March and I need to decide and book the slot pretty soon. Just to recap, I have Paroxysmal AF detected
