Short bursts of af?

Hi. I am now almost three months post ablation and over the past month have had occasional days when I get short flutters as if I am going into af but then nothing happens. Each episode only lasts a few seconds. It usually goes on for an hour two. Before ablation I only had af rarely and alway started in the middle of the night. I was supposed to stop my sotalol at two months but haven’t as don’t want to land up in A and E at the moment!

Yeah i'm 8 months post abalation and i still get a few ectopics with little bursts, it really takes 9 months to a year to get full recovery

Soooooooooo normal. You may want to consider taking deep breaths, for the lungs will exert pressure on the heart too. Take magnesium (taurate, glycinate) to calm the heart muscle. And realize that it takes a bit of time for scar tissue to really mend and stop those errant beats. My ablation recuperation took a year. I still take deep breaths occasionally, like three times a week.

Some great advice......people often talk about the 3 month blanking period but the reality, it often takes longer........

My story is similar , I would 100% try and email the Consultant and get him to confirm that you should continue with your Sotalol given the current state of play with A & E . After my first ablation I came off Flecainide cold turkey after 3 months and within 4 weeks was back in A&E and booked in for another ablation which they did for Flutter within 10 days( I was on Sotalol prior to the ablation ). Whilst I always except we are all so very different, the Cardiologist is the only person who really knows what is best for you. And as Flackjack states it normally takes longer than the three months often discussed! Good luck, Max

I would definitely give it more time! I’m in my fifth month, and things have only recently drastically improved for me, but still get similar symptoms to what you described,

I am just over 5 months post ablation and I have short bursts of flip flops or fast heart rate, but just for a couple of seconds. EP says this is normal and may not ever resolve itself completely, just as long as doesn't become a full blown AF episode.
