Oh,Pippins-- I do hope this will work out for you.
It's so scary to be at the end of your tether with medications.
Sending warm hugs to you💚💚💚💚☘️☘️
Fingers crossed it helps Pipps.
Hi Joolsg, we haven’t known each other but I am Ruth’s (Ruffabug) husband and have to say that Ruth passed away on Christmas Day, peacefully in the local hospice. Despite all her concerns the RLS problems were controlled to the end with the 6mg rotigotine 24hr patch and opioids I V once she could not swallow the Ropinerole any more. I know this forum was a blessing for her and I am grateful to you all for yr helpful comment and encouragement- Ruth was a brave lady, I hope you all can find that bravery.
I am so, so sorry to hear that sad news. Thank you for letting me know.I am so pleased to hear that her RLS was controlled at the end. She had enough to bear.
Ruth was a lovely lady and I had enjoyed chatting to her on here over the years. She was indeed very brave.
I hope you and your family can find some comfort in knowing Ruth was free of pain.
My thoughts are with you and your family.
Jools x
I am very sorry to hear of Ruth's passing and kind of you to let us know at this difficult time
It was the Statin alternative so think.i am out of options for cholesterol lowing meds
There are other options if it doesn't work. I may have given this to you before :
Nexlizet (Nustendi) is a cholesterol lowering drug that is not a statin, but I don’t know if it exacerbates RLS symptoms. Ezetimibe (Zetia) reduces cholesterol although it doesn't reduce cholesterol as fast as the statins, but according to Chris Columbus it didn't trigger his RLS. And then there are Triglide (Fenofibrate, Fibricor, Lipantil, Lipofen, Supralip) and Bezafibrate (Bezalip) which are not statins which seem safe. You might want to discuss these with your doctor. A more difficult way to reduce cholesterol is to go vegan. My husband lowered his cholesterol from 221 to 131 this way.
You might try repatha for cholesterol control (2x month injection). It is very expensive, insurance in the USA does cover it. No idea if it will affect RLS. I take a gaggle of supplements to lower cholesterol and triglycerides. They are Alma, Pantethine, Berberine, Nattokinase, and switching to a mostly vegetarian diet. If your cholesterol is for primary prevention (meaning you haven't had a cardiac episode), you should try diet interventions first. A new high profile study is suggesting that many people may not need statins at all.

Thankyou for the information very interesting I am trying to improve my diet annd I need to loose some weight which should help .I am in the UK but if the injections are very expensive there won't be a chance of getting them on the NHS but I will take a look at your supplements
