Years of thinking all the discomfort was normal!!!!!
So in August 2012 I went to see my consultant along with photos taken during my laparoscopy, he was excellent and I was booked in for an MRI scan, an ultra sound scan of my pelvis,
sigmoidoscopy
endoscopy and a health check.

Pain, pain, pain
Reading posts on this site has been illuminating. I have had IBS for as long as I can remember (I'm 66). Even as a small child I can remember saying I had a 'funny feeling and tummy ache' and doctors scratching their heads about the cause, which was never found. Over the years I've had barium meals

Hi I'm new to this site so don't really know how things work - but my GP has just told me to go on a 24 hour fast. Is this normal/ usual?
However I was diagnosed with IBS 10 years ago when I had tummy pain for some months and the
sigmoidoscopy
didn't reveal anything. I've had mild bloating since then but nothing like now and haven't been to GP with any problems related to IBS since then.

A diagnostic tool only as good as the operative?
There was talk of surgery but with the possibility that the bowel could be involved I was then sent for a
sigmoidoscopy
to see if this was the case.

Diagnoised with endometriosis 2 months ago, already had an operation and awaiting my second. .... advice welcome please :0)
I had a Laparoscopy on 25 July and have a hospital appointment on 29 October to have a
sigmoidoscopy
. I have my second operation booked in for 10 December, with my consultant and a bowl surgeon, my consultant believes that the endo may have gone through my bowl and my bladder.

Everything is not always what it seems
After having years of medication for an over active bladder ( in spite of mentioning the loose bowels and other problems there - and a
sigmoidoscopy
showing diverticulitis) I eventually started to suspect my diet/IBS.

Visit with the colorectal surgeon
I am now waiting for a
sigmoidoscopy
, not overly looking forward to it but apparently I will be sedated. Not only is he going to do this to see what is going on but he was kind in the fact he said a young woman of your age deserves a better life which was lovely!!

Has anyone had a sigmoidoscopy for bleeding from the bowel?
Did that help in your diagnosis? Was it endo within the bowel or a separate issue?
