phyllocontin
Not sure how much they have told you. But if you type ""theophylline"", ""aminophylline"" or ""phyllocontin"" in to the search box you ought to get a lot more information on it. Phyllocontin is an aminophylline tablet I believe, but is very closely related to theophylline. I am unsure of the difference.
Personally it is my wonder drug as long as my levels stay therapeutic- I have had a lot of problems with various brands and absorption and have now. It appears that I have found slo-phyllin to be the best brand for me.
Side effects wise it can vary massively. I try not to read side effects on meds as it puts me off. If my levels are too high then I get tachychardia and nausea- generally feeling unwell. If my levels are sub-therapeutic then asthma-wise I feel naff. After a couple of weeks and the dose is settled I have few if any side effects from it. If they haven't told you already make sure after a week or so of taking it that you have blood levels done to check that you are getting therapeutic levels.
I hope this helps and I am more than happy to help further if I can.

I started uniphyllin (which i think is part of the same group of drugs) about a month ago, it has been fab! - esp at night its ment i sleep much better! I'm on ventolin, singulair and seretide too but with pred as well.
I havn't had any side effects from it- which is fab, tho my con warned me to stay off the caffeine because I believe it can make the side effects worse.
Hope another success story helps put your mind at rest - tho i know it doesn't work for everyone.

Thanks for your quick replies, I do feel alittle more relaxed now thanks to your replys. My con didnt mention getting my bloods done but ill talk to my asthma nurse next week about it. I do take pred but only when im having bad bouts, last lot was last week when i was admitted to hossie, time before that was christmas. Fingers crossed ill be able to tolerate it and it helps, ill keep you updated, many thanks, love donna x
Phyllocontin did nothing for me - no effects of any sort, good or bad. Hope you have better results !
