MCA syndrome: Mast Cell Activation syndrome; if you have gut issues and food intolerances, pls read.
Three days before seeing the Consultant in hospital, I ate frozen large prawns and became very ill. My abdomen became swollen by almost 7" within half an hour! Apart from all the other symptoms. I had to take my rings off as soon as I realised what was happening. I was so furious, I emptied the bin on

Which diet?
Which diet? I am looking to see if food might be a major factor in my migraines. But there doesn't seem to be an absolute agreement on what the ideal anti-migraine looks like. The two approaches that seem to offer the best hope are firstly the Stanton Protocol which seems similar to paleo style diet

ASCO Genitourinary Cancers Symposium (Xofigo - Radium-223 retreatment)
Darryl already reported this one, but the abstract is below [1]. Note that the half-life of radium-223 is only 11.4 days. "The recommended regimen is six treatments of 55 kBq/kg (1.3 uCi per kg), repeated at 4-week intervals." [2] "Re-treating with Ra-223 was well tolerated in this select pt population

diuretics cause af
Are diuretics a common cause of af episodes. My brother has recently discontinued his diuretic because he is confident that it was causing many of his episodes. He also thinks that the diuretic lowers his sodium and potassium levels and they might be the real cause.

Help! At my wits end. 10 weeks of diarrhoea no resolution, should I get another opinion?
Hello, totally new to this and floundering massively. I’ve been treated for a severe gut infection over the past two months or so. Although nothing identified on two stool samples and blood work just showed inflammatory markers that suggested infection. I lost 20kgs in weight, which has made me so weak

How to Age Well
How to Age Well By Tara Parker-Pope @nytimeswell Save for Later Getting older is inevitable (and certainly better than the alternative). While you can’t control your age, you can slow the decline of aging with smart choices along the way. From the foods you eat and how you exercise to your friendships

Brain Fog/Ammonia on the Brain
In the past few days I've been increasingly experiencing fatigue/brain fog. I decided to explore ammonia on the brain and this is what I found. I realize most PBCers don't have AIH, but some of us have fatty liver. Evidently, this can be prevented to some extent if you start working on early prevention

Hi, wondering anyone has experienced low sodium and it not be related to SCLC!! My mum was diagnosed with SCLC stage 3 spread to lymph nodes, back in March 2017 after being admitted to hospital with low sodium (113) she had SIADH, which is associated with SCLC, started chemo in April and radiotherapy

I'm still going strong!
Hi everyone, I though a positive note might help. I was diagnosed Oct 2013, PSA 620. Two of 12 biopsy cores cancerous. Gleasons, 3 and 4. 4 and 4. Widespread bony metastases to spinal column, ribcage, pelvis. Smaller lesions in humerus and femur and skull. After a few weeks on Casodex, changed to Abiraterone

Sodium Picosulfate for 20 month year old.
Has anyone been prescribed Sodium Picosulfate to use long term for a toddler? Our little man is currently on Movicol but will still sometimes withhold. Rather than increasing his dose, he’s been prescribed Sodium Picosulfate to use as well. We’ve been told to use it long term. He’s no longer constipated
