Inhalation Therapy Shows Promise Against Pulmonary Fibrosis in Mice, Rats.
A new study from North Carolina State University shows that lung stem cell secretions – specifically exosomes and secretomes – delivered via nebulizer, can help repair lung injuries due to multiple types of pulmonary fibrosis in mice and rats. The work could lead to more effective, less invasive treatment

Coronavirus outbreak raises question: Why are bat viruses so deadly?
It’s no coincidence that some of the worst viral disease outbreaks in recent years —
SARS
, MERS, Ebola, Marburg and likely the newly arrived 2019-nCoV virus — originated in bats.

Did my medical abortion fail?
Hiya. I very sadly had to have medical termination on the 16th December 19 (my baby was very wanted, it just wasn’t the right time personally). I’m pretty confident I passed the pregnancy and my symptoms stopped soon after. However, over the last few weeks, my lower tummy has felt solid, my nipples have

Steroids could do more harm than good for coronavirus.
A commentary article published in The Lancet concludes that, based on evidence from previous outbreaks of similar types of infection such as
SARS
, steroids provide little benefit to patients and could do more harm than good.

Has anyone had a lobectomy?
How was it and how was the recovery? I'm new here and have a long-term undiagnosed lung abscess that hasn't responded to any treatments. It isn't cancerous (thank goodness!), but all the tests and procedures I have taken have come back negative. My consultant has advised me that, as there is little left

Israeli Researcher Discovers Why Being Male Doubles Risk of Corona Death
Similarly, a
SARS
(severe acute respiratory syndrome related to coronavirus) study on mice, found that female rodents were protected from the disease due to estrogen. Gal-Oz hypothesizes that a woman’s body is designed to better fight viruses to protect a fetus.

cataract surgery & epiretinal membrane
I have to decide whether to have cataract surgery which might cause complications for the epiretinal membrane on the macular in both my eyes. I am keen to hear any other experience of this - (1) what factors to think about in deciding and (2) what the effect of surgery has had on the epiretinal membrane

Team tracks integrin's role in lung function.
Beta-1 integrin, a critical component of epithelial extracellular matrix receptors, is essential for normal lung function in adulthood, researchers at Vanderbilt University Medical Center have discovered. In a mouse model, deleting the gene for beta-1 integrin from the epithelial cells lining the alveoli

Is Covid19 a new Animal?
.😊 In fact ,
SARS
and MERS belong to the same corona virus family. (3) Now that it is discovered and a standard test is available for covid19, everybody who has common cold and flu may test positive for Covid19 !

COVID-19 --- Treatments versus Vaccines, Gilead’s Remdesivir
It presumably was able to block previous viruses, specifically
SARS
and Mers (which are somewhat similar to COVID-19 depending on who you talk to). However, previously it was only tested on mice and earlier on a cell basis, in vivo and in vitro.
