Gut microbiota composition reflects disease severity and dysfunctional immune responses in patients with COVID-19
Methods In this two-hospital cohort study, we obtained blood, stool and patient records from 100 patients with laboratory-confirmed
SARS
-CoV-2 infection. Serial stool samples were collected from 27 of the 100 patients up to 30 days after clearance of

Do we need a COVID-19 vaccine for pets?
SARS
-CoV-2 has never been an exclusively human problem. Since the early days of the pandemic, scientists have been concerned about the impact of the virus responsible for COVID-19 on pets, livestock, and wildlife.

‘Universal Covid vaccine’ could be developed within a year, Second-generation jab may work against all variants of coronavirus.
SN14targets both the
SARS
-CoV-2 nucleocapsid (N) protein and the key receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the spike (S)protein, and is based on a modification of Scancell’s Immuno Body®DNA vaccine technology.

Melatonin produced in the lungs prevents infection by novel coronavirus.
Melatonin synthesized in the lungs acts as a barrier against
SARS
-CoV-2, preventing expression of genes that encode proteins in cells such as resident macrophages in the nose and pulmonary alveoli, and epithelial cells lining the alveoli, all of which are entry points for the virus.

Immune suppressants?
Im not seeking any medical advice with this question. Do any of you know why some of us, post transplant, take different immune suppressants? I take 2 mg of Advagraf (slow relase) once a day. Others that i have met on the liver unit that were transplanted around the same time as me, December 2019, or

My facial surgery scar
I was devastated when I saw the scar on my face following surgery to remove skin cancer. 8 weeks on and a little ordinary foundation make-up and I am pleased with the result. I hope that this is reassuring to anyone who is going through my this right now. Unfortunately I can't upload a before photo,

Period light but clots
Does anyone else get this? I am on desogestrel, which has made my periods MUCH lighter. However, I still get quite a bit of pain, and the first few days of my period I am passing only clots (not really any "liquid blood"). Do you know why this might be? I have stage 4 endo and adeno, as well as an endometrioma

Long COVID: who is at risk?
For most people, infection with
SARS
-CoV-2 – the virus that causes COVID-19 – leads to mild, short-term symptoms, acute respiratory illness, or possibly no symptoms at all. But some people have long-lasting symptoms after their infection – this has been dubbed “long COVID”.
