Immune suppressants?

Im not seeking any medical advice with this question.

Do any of you know why some of us, post transplant, take different immune suppressants? I take 2 mg of Advagraf (slow relase) once a day. Others that i have met on the liver unit that were transplanted around the same time as me, December 2019, or later are prescribed Prograf and Adoport, both slow release. Curious to know why? Many thanks.

Good question. I have wondered about this. My partner was transplanted 2016 & takes Adoport 1mg twice daily.

Same as h0b0, I have also wondered about this, I thought it was depending on the Transplant Unit as after my transplant the patient in the next bed was on the same as me Adoport and Azathioprine, I am still on both. Interested to find out and never thought to ask my consultants.

Hi, I am now 19 months post tp and still reviewed by the consultants at different hospitals and my gp on a regular basis. My immunosuppressant drugs are changing quite a lot due to what they are finding with blood tests. I am taking 10mg of steroids alongside 0.5 mg Adoport twice a day down from 1 mg and 1g of Mycophenolate Mofetil twice a day increased from 500mg.

It seems that my immune system is not happy, every time they try to reduce the steroids my LFT's go haywire, at the minute my potassium levels are dangerously high 6.3 hence the reduction in Adoport.

I have more blood tests next week which pleases the nurses no end they draw straws to see who does it lol I am very difficult to get blood from.

It's a very fine balancing act getting them right and everybody is different.

Thank you for your good wishes. The funny thing is if it weren't for the blood tests I wouldn't know there was anything wrong I feel totally fine. The only thing that worries me is the biopsy word keeps getting mentioned quite a lot.
