How long do I give my preventer inhaler to work?
Hi, I'm new to these forums, although not new to asthma, but have a question I hoping someone on here might know the answer to. First let me give you a little background... ...when I was a teenager I was diagnosed with mild asthma(symptoms never really more than low peak flow, shortness of breath and

Fostair
Hi, I've been noticing for a couple of weeks now that I feel worse for a few minutes after taking my Fostair (2 puffs x 100/6) but tonight I felt particularly bad, prompting me to put my pulse ox. My sats dropped to 95% and pulse went up to 115.... 95% isn't too bad butmy sats literally never drop below

Newbie here... Hello (:
Hello there! I just stumbled across this forum and everyone here seems so supportive, lovely and helpful that I thought I'd like to join. I'm just going to write a little introduction and my story. I'm not originally from the UK so apologies for any errors and lack of obvious knowledge of the NHS!

Inhalers and Exercise
Hi All I would really like some advice on exercise induced asthma. I had asthma as a child and came off inhalers when I was 14, I'm now 29 and the last few years I've had mild symptoms returning - a particular trigger being exercise. I love to exercise and like to push myself so particularly enjoy curcuits

More Exasperation
Went to my GP today because she wanted to try me on another inhaler to see which works best. She's trying me on Ipratropium Bromide. I asked her to give me a check up to make sure the recent chest infection had gone, thankfully she says it has. I asked her if she could tell me what my lung capacity

How I use complimentary medicine to control my asthma and an asthma history!
Hi folks! I feel compelled for some reason to share a bit of my asthma history as I reckon I've turned a corner in it. Firstly, I got a diagnosis of asthma aged about 7, am in my mid - late 20's now. For a long time, I felt my asthma was very difficult to control. I especially noticed this in a holiday

nose bleeds ???
This may be a pointless question but as an ""asthma mum"" everything new medical makes me think is it linked to his meds rather than it is just something any kid goes through .. Callum has had 3 nose bleeds , all in the evening (6 to 7pm) both nostrils but not at same time on three consecutive nights

How long does Prednisolone take to work?
My son (aged 8) is on a course of Azithromycin antibiotics and a 3 day course of Prednisolone tablets (6 tablets each day). In your experience, how long does it take for you to notice an improvement in your symptoms after taking Prednisolone? It always seems to take over 24 hours to see an improvement

my husband has continual breathing difficulties. Has anyone any advice on what treatments help, especially with the agitation and distress.
We already use Carbocystene, Salbutamol and saline nebules in the nebuliser and Oxazipine tablets when the distress gets really bad.

SERETIDE and children under 4
Hi All I'm after some advice - Ollie's (he's 3) asthma is quite bad a moment - went to hosp yesterday and DR suggested changing him from Becotide to Seretide. I didn't think Seretide was licenced for children under 4 in UK (but am aware that consultants can give meds 'off licence'). He suggested

Out-of-hours doctor has just said that my son's asthma is ""a little brittle"" - help!
Have just gotten back from the out-of-hours GP (my son's usual timing for a trip!). His asthma's gone everso slightly out of control since the hayfever season has kicked in. I've been back to the GP and the resp nurse in the last couple of weeks and he's started in flixonase nasal spray. This has helped
