Hi I am new to this board. I am Sarah, a full time mum to Isaac 20 months who has asthma. Isaac had his first 'viral wheeze' last december, but has had many more since. Last week he had a scary attack in which he turned blue and floppy, they then gave me a prventer for him as well as his salbutamol.

What is an attack?
Hi, I am new to these forums and it probably sounds like a really stupid question, but what constitutes an asthma attack? At what point do I need to call for help as some nights he is beside himself. My son is nearly two and has recently been prescribed a salbutamol inhaler as he is wheezy. At night

Atrovent
Has anyones little one had this and what was it used for/with? I am a little confused as if this is a preventer or reliever, some ppl I have spoken to have used it for both! The reason I am asking is because Isaac was given this to try instead of his salbutamol (to check if sal was making him hyper

DIFFERING OPINIONS HAVE LEFT ME CONFUSED.
Two further colds triggered a tight wheezy chest and as advised gave
salbutamol
and
ipratropium
. He also has had to have short courses of prednisolone and a few trips to AnE to have nebulizers and oxygen.

How much is too much?
My daughter is 5 and was diagnosed with asthma at 2 years, although the symptoms had been there since she was 6 months old. Her asthma has been slowly getting worse since July, 3 courses antibiotics, 30 days of prednisolone (3 seperate 10 day courses) which resulted in the most horrible oral thrush.

Nebs v Inhalers?!?!
My daughter is 3 years old and a brittle asthmatic - in the last 4 weeks we've needed 4 courses of pred and antibiotics! We've also had 4 hospital stays - on our second to last discharge the Dr suggested not to give my daughter 4 hourly nebs and swap over to inhalers instead as these are proven to be

Hi there, This is my first post so I hope my tone/message length is Ok! My 11 month old son has had a terrible first winter, with every cold he has had a hospital admission, 3 all together including twice in intensive care. Some Drs say pneumonia , some bronchiolitis and I think they're going to diagnose

Hello
Hi to you all, I've been lurking (so to speak) for some time and finally joined the forums tonight. I'm mum of a 6 year old and a 4 year old. My little boy was born coughing (literally) 4 years ago, which was tentatively diagnosed as floppy larynx. Anyway to cut a very long 4 year story short, he has

Not sure how to proceed anymore
I have 4 year old twins and one of them has severe/difficult/brittle (every hospital has different names for it) asthma. She was diagnosed at 7 months old and she is unfortunately getting worse. She was admitted 14 times last year and that doesn't even begin to detail the number of times we have dealt

looking for worldwide travel insurance for little nutter. he has only just recently been diagnosed with asthma, following an attack which required a hospital admission. so do we have to declare he has asthma when applying for insurance for him? and if we do will they insure him because he has required

What are my exacerbation triggers? Actichlor Bleach???
I started work in the operating theatres of an NHS hospital just over a year ago. I take Seritide 250 2 times a day 2 puffs, Salbutamol PRN and Montelukast at night. I have noticed in July last year I was starting to take my Salbutamol more often. Since then had a few exacerbations and prescribed Prednisolone
