can anyone recommend a good reliable mains heavy duty compressor nebuliser? I use it every 4 hours with 500mg ipratropium and 5mg ventolin.Reliability is essential!I have no faith in my pari as its failed 3 times on me while having severe attacks! Now can someone get me a ball as I've done some awesome sealion impressions ;P

compressor nebulisers
anyone know about these, they seem to be hospital rated
Hi Rattles, I use Ventolin 4 hourly in my neb and Atrovent 6 hourly in my neb and I use my trusty Omron Microair, its not mains operated. I use rechargable batteries in it and is wonderous, its quiet and efficient. My back up mains neb is a Medix, its very noisy but equally as reliable, its just like the ones they use in hospital but is heavy and cumbersome to cart about whereas my Omron just fits into my handbag doesn't draw attention and hasn't let me down (touch wood). Hope you get sorted and feel better soon, hopefully someone else will come along shortly with some more recommendations, Lois
Hi rattles i use the respironcs porta Neb ... Despite the name it's not portable . Copes well wie all the nebs I use salbutamol and atrovent at same time .... But then in saying that I'm on my 3rd one thankfully supplied by the Nhs .....
I use the Medix AC2000 nebuliser and I have found it to be very good. I have to nebulise every 4 hours using Atrovent nebules
I have a CAMI portable neb and to be honest it isn't great- certainly not as good as my Omron. Not sure whether this helps.
Many thanks peeps, Ive opted for medix turboneb.woody_som spent a long time researching nebs sunday.Decided turboneb will be good as its v powerful and can handle constant use (got 2 brittles live here).Need something like this as my airways are unstable and collapse.Hope it arrives soon, due today. Will let you know how I get on.Using my sons pari which is 10 years old but more reliable than my 2 year old one!says a lot!!!!!
new neb is AWESOME!may even get my special romantic weekend away with woody_som now.It was looking more like a stay in costa!WOOHOO and thanks for your help peeps x
well like Rattles said, spent a lot of time researching nebs and wanted a really heavy workhorse, and the medex turboneb says it's for constant multi-patient use in hospital, and never saw anything else to match that.
I have identified two problems with the pariboy mobile S. 1st is the battery to unit connection, it's not reliable, the pin connection is the same design as Garmin use on their Forerunner 405 runners watch for charging and I've had problems with that connection, just like the neb has.
2nd fault, and the reason it didn't work on the mains is the tiny switch isn't very good. It needs something more substantial, I used to do electronics work and the small switches were never as reliable as the bigger models, such as that fitted to the Medex Turboneb
Although the neb is main only, it should be possible to use it in a car with an inverter that doesn't cost the earth.
Now we're both looking forward to our special weekend away ;P
i've got ca-mi mobile neb nebulisercentre.co.uk/index...
and i'm very happy with it, don't know which one you've tried bryony but mine is fab. it's really powerful and it's the only compressor neb i've found that can be used with normal AA batteries from any shop anywhere.
