Salazopyrin

Have just had a message from my pharmacy to say they are unable to get hold of any more Salazopyrin due to shortages !! Anybody else in this situation and is there a replacement drug ? 😒

Is anybody else having problems getting their Salazopyrin prescriptions. I've not been able to get mine for the last 5 weeks, the pharmacist reckons there is a production problem. I'm getting a bit desperate now

I was alo on salazopyrin before the Leflunemide which worked quite well for the PA for a number of years, also got rid of the skin psoriasis to a certain extent. Biologics like Ritiximub I see here as well, assume these are monthly invusions.

I'm on methotrexate and salazopyrin too. I really do want to take it because I have been having really bad flairs lately and haven't been able to move much etc so would love some feedback please. Hope I've made sense with what I've wrote 🤞

(My meds: 4 x 500mg Salazopyrin per day, am Predsol 5mg suppository plus pm Salofalk 1gm suppository. Plus taking 1,600mg curcumin.) The bleeding has stopped now for 3 weeks, so I want to come off Predsol, but I'm too scared to contact her office to ask if I need to taper!

Hi advice on Salazopyrin I've been taking Salazopyrin for some months with regular blood tests. Inflammatory arthritis and colitis. All was going well until I received a phone call to say stop taking them because my last blood test showed a problem with red blood count.

Started on Salazopyrin like 3 weeks ago and the side effects have been terrible include fatigue, constant headaches, nausea and insomnia. Has anyone else experienced this? I took a break from the meds yesterday and feeling better today. Anyone experienced this? Any suggestions?

Anyone have any experience of side effects such as tinnitus or sinusitis, from Salazopyrin?

Salazopyrin, how long does it take to have any effect and to reach most effect?

I am 51 and had a preliminary RA diagnosis (not 100%) 4 weeks ago and am on Salazopyrin following steroid injection. No significant/ obvious impact of drugs to date on symptoms, but know its early, so just looking for some light at end of tunnel or a reality check.

She is on 25mg of Pred a day and one of her other drugs, is Salazopyrin, which is also used for Crohns and RA, says I have to use gloves when using it, does anyone know why? She has to have 0.75 of a tablet three times a day so I have got a separate pill cutter for her.

I take salazopyrin with no obvious adverse effects. I could not tolerate methotrexate or leflunomide . I am mid seventies and my wrists and knuckles are badly damaged ,having had RA for around 45 years.

After a year and a half of Prednisone, Salazopyrin and Entocort his levels shot up to over 6000 (literally off the chart). The doctor ordered another test assuming that it was a false positive but the result was the same.

But for the past 4 years i was able to manage it just with naproxen and salazopyrin. But for the past 4 months salazopyrin is not working and my inflation and pain has increased. As i am planning for 2nd pregnancy, i cant try Methotrexate. And my rhymtologist is suggesting that i try CYMZIA.

Feb 2021 - there’s still a shortage of Pfizer Salazopyrin En-tabs or enteric-coated Sulfasalazine - has anyone in U.K. (Ldn) managed to get this rather than the generic Sulfasalazine? I’ve had problems adjusting to this med & generally sensitive to additives in meds, this is a real set-back.

Hi I’m starting Salazopyrin (Sulfasalazine) this morning ... I have a feeling the consultant said something about taking folic acid but I am not sure and with everything got confused yesterday. Do any of you know if it standard to start them with folic acid.

What scares me the most is the complete lack of monitoring of the drugs I continue to be prescribed (Salazopyrin and Meloxicam) after taking every day for16 years.

I am on 90mg of arcoxia etoricoxib tablets once a day, my bloods are clear even during flare, so rheumy nurse has decided not to put me on salazopyrin, as my markers are not showing. Anyone on this medication, has it helped??

Just wanted to know more about the drug salazopyrin and if anyone had side effects with this drug.
