Vision Issues
Hi everyone, I have GCA, AS, AFib, plus a couple of other problems. After 14 months I was finally able to get off prednisone. I have been on Actemra for a year. I see various specialists for all my different medical issues but they all communicate through a data base. I get bloodwork every month and

Officially tapering as of today~!
Sometimes I am confused as to whether this is attempt 3 or 4, I think it is 3. In July of 2020 I got down to 8 mg of Medrol but started having blurriness in my right eye so went back up to 16 mg per day. Since November 2020 I've been on 12 Medrol per day along with Actemra. I had mentioned in a post

Vaccine
Getting my first shot of the Moderna vaccine today. I’m taking 7mg of prednisone and due to give myself my Actemra shot two days later. Is there any info about delaying your injection? Tried to contact my rheumatologist but he is away. His nurse didn’t have an answer for me.

Out of Remission. Starting over...
Hi everyone, Unfortunately after three months of remission I had a very bad flareup. The week before my husband and I were leaving for Maine (Sept) I decided to get a flu shot. Four days later while in Maine I started not to feel well. The usual PMR symptoms. I had no medication with me. My doctor

Actemra and weight
I've been on Actemra for about a year. Been off it for a few weeks because of tooth extraction and rheumatologist wants me to restart. RX insert and other research says most biologics and more specifically tocilizumab (Actemra) causes weight gain. I lost significant weight while so sick with GCA even

PMR and Covid vaccine experience
Having had my second covid vaccination 5 days ago I am finding my PMR symptoms are heightened. I feel like I did when diagnosed 2 yrs ago.. I am currently on 4 mg. Prednisone and Actemra injections weekly. Curious what others are experiencing. Thank you in advance!

Started Actemra... a few questions if that's ok!
The nurse came yesterday to got through stuff with me and I administered my first injection, which was all fine. But they obviously didn’t know anything about what I should be doing re the prednisolone and dosage. I am taking 30 mg at the moment. I was originally on 40mg and the consultant tried to

Smooth so far~
I thought I'd come with a good update. It would seem I've made the transition from prednisolone to prednisone seamlessly! My Actemra shots are no longer causing bleeding or bruising~! So I am coasting smoothly. What more can a gal ask for? 👩🏽🤝👩🏼👩🏿🤝👩🏼👩🏿🤝👩🏽👩🏿🤝👩🏼👩🏿🤝👩

Having vaccine on a Actemra day?
Has anyone heard whether it isn’t a good idea to have the jab on the same day as your Tocilizumab day?

I paid the doctor....now for your input!
First let me say my laptop is in the shape...I’m not too fast on the Ipad! The rheumatologist told me today that he wants me to stay on Actemra for another month before tapering. AND....he is going to switch me from prednisolone (Been on —solone for 15 months) to prednisone per day for this coming

Several variables and unknowns~
Almost 4 weeks ago, my rheumatologist started me back on Actemra weekly. I felt better without it, but he feels I need it as we will start tapering down from 12mg prednisolone, which I'm sure my body will appreciate (I hope). The same week I started the Actemra, my GP had also had me try just 20 mg

Covid vaccine get it or not?
Covid vaccine, we have lost our Rheumy on island over a year ago, and the Internal Medicine doc has not let us know yet or not if my husband, who has GCA, Diabetes Type II with Predisone at 21mg., Htn, and down DVTs and on blood thinner Warfarin should get the vaccine . Any experience of having GCA and Actemra (TCZ) being discontinued while still trying to taper steroids
Diagnosed with GCA June 2019. Tried to taper Prednisolone but had a few flares so was prescribed TCZ (weekly injections) to see if it would help. I succeeded in being able to taper twice to approximately 18mg Pred/day but then have had flares and to get the inflammation under control have had to increase

I'd love your thoughts...
As most know, I have GCA and was diagnosed in August 2019 when I lost sight in my left eye. The forum has kept me grounded, sane, through the roller coaster ride. There have been three occasions when I have gotten down to 8 mg of prednisolone but have always experienced vision issues in the right eye

Cutaneous Vasculitis
My GCA is probably in remission but the PMR is bad. I believe I had Covid last February. Could not get a test sbd did not want to go to hospital. I was already on plaquinil and prednisone and added holistic supplement protocol by Dr Dietrick Klinghart and also the Life Extension Co. It was an awful

Actemra
Hi guys, I have just started self injecting Actemra once a week as the drugs I started on have not worked in reducing my discomfort. Has anyone found this helpful to take and how long was it before any benefits were felt? I have been on it for 3 weeks now and no success yet.

Off Actemra
Ended up in ER with severe stomach pains. Though I have esophagus problems I never had that kind of pain in my stomach. It was gastritis. Rheumatologist said okay to go off Actemra, but not sure if that's the cause. Although Actemra is contraindicated for people with gastrointestinal problems. I'm

Tocilizumab/atlizumab/Actemra and exercise intolerance
I've posted before explaining all my AI conditions and the current treatment with CellCept, hydroxychloroquine, and Rituxan. As a side, I apparently developed a new AI condition too... now, I can't help but laugh after each visit :-) . Anyway, my rheumatologist talked with me about what we will do
