Actemra at 3mg prednisone for GCA
Hi, I’m currently down to 3 mg of prednisone from 60mg almost exactly a year ago. My bloods are a bit up and down but mostly good. I’m pretty active but get tired in the afternoons and pretty much rest from then on. I have some fleeting temple pains and other general aches consistent with the pains at

I feel a few good things~!
First, after seeing the rheumy today I feel less anxious, aka afraid, and secure in the path he recommended. It was the path of the PMRGCAuk~! He listened to all my symptoms over the last few weeks..." since bloodwork results for inflammation won't show up since I take Actemra" ...and he must rely

Has anyone noticed breakthrough headaches in the evening? Prednisone dose is taken in the morning.
Hi. I am experiencing a relapse that came on after my Pfizer vaccine. I also have a shingles problem that I am managing with antiviral medication. I’m now up to 40 mg of prednisone after being down to 4 mg. I’m also on Actemra. I am still experiencing breakthrough headaches that reliably occur after

Difficulty tapering and questions~!
I'm about to spit nails since I have been unable to get my rheumy to return my call. I feel I'm in better hands with the forum at any rate. I'm a GCA-er...since 2019 and lost sight in my left eye. After my initial infusions of steroids, I was on 125 mg per day of prednisone, then 100 mg for a month

New Member Seeking advice on having the vaccine for covid-19 while having Roactemra 162 mg weekly injection for Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA).
My concern is how the vaccine reacts in people who are taking
RoActemra
and is it safe to have it?

COVID Vaccination while taking Actemra
I had the first Pfizer Covid vaccination four days ago and I am happy to report the only side effect was soreness at the injection site for about 24 hours. I am currently taking 2 mg Prednisone and Actemra. My Rheumatologist said it was not necessary to stop the Actemra before my vaccination. However

Update on GCA and thickening of internal carotid artery
I'm creating a new post to follow up on my previous one because I cant locate old posts. Help? The cardiologist said, yes its marginally thicker and doesnt concern him at this time. Still taking baby aspirin every day. Cholesterol levels are awesome and the opinion is the thickening is a result of GCA

any info about using cobimetinib, an IL-6 inhibitor, for PMR?
I've been reading the posts on this forum about Actemra (tocilizumab) and suppression of IL-6, the cytokine causing the negative symptoms of PMR. Searching the web led me to a scientific conjecture from 2018 that combimetinib may be useful for treating PMR. Has anyone heard anything further about

Prednisone Induced Myopathy PIM
Hello GCA buddies. I met with my new rheumy yesterday and she feels I might have PIM. Does anyone have experience with this? I am seeing her in person in 2 weeks. Til then, stick w the current prednisone and cut out the Actemra. Then she will do blood tests to see where I am at. Feeling like

Vision Issues
Hi everyone, I have GCA, AS, AFib, plus a couple of other problems. After 14 months I was finally able to get off prednisone. I have been on Actemra for a year. I see various specialists for all my different medical issues but they all communicate through a data base. I get bloodwork every month and

Officially tapering as of today~!
Sometimes I am confused as to whether this is attempt 3 or 4, I think it is 3. In July of 2020 I got down to 8 mg of Medrol but started having blurriness in my right eye so went back up to 16 mg per day. Since November 2020 I've been on 12 Medrol per day along with Actemra. I had mentioned in a post

Vaccine
Getting my first shot of the Moderna vaccine today. I’m taking 7mg of prednisone and due to give myself my Actemra shot two days later. Is there any info about delaying your injection? Tried to contact my rheumatologist but he is away. His nurse didn’t have an answer for me.

Out of Remission. Starting over...
Hi everyone, Unfortunately after three months of remission I had a very bad flareup. The week before my husband and I were leaving for Maine (Sept) I decided to get a flu shot. Four days later while in Maine I started not to feel well. The usual PMR symptoms. I had no medication with me. My doctor

Actemra and weight
I've been on Actemra for about a year. Been off it for a few weeks because of tooth extraction and rheumatologist wants me to restart. RX insert and other research says most biologics and more specifically tocilizumab (Actemra) causes weight gain. I lost significant weight while so sick with GCA even
