GCA Second opinions Ontario Canada
Hello Ontario. Have you tried to get a second opinion ? I feel awful. Tired. Weepy. Taking Actemra and reducing prednisone 2 per week. Tried to talk to my rheumatologist for her advice. January 25 is first date. So basically “get lost”. Assistant said if it’s that bad go to emergency. Not a great

Actemra
Does anyone have any experience with actemra for treating pmr and gca? I was diagnosed with pmr in February of this year. Rheumatologist started me on 40 mg of prednisone. By the end of May I had tapered the prednisone to 12.5 mg and became very sick. After having bilateral temporal artery biopsies

Anyone only taking Actemra
I’ve been on Actemra injections over 3 seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. I really am against using Prednisone

Will I ever be off pred with GCA?
Quick question. I have been told by my rheumatologist , that I will be on Actemra and 5mg pred for the rest of my life. I visited an eye doc for some problems with my eyes, and he was very surprised to find out I was still on prednisone after 2 years of my diagnosis. I know things are different over

PMR flare on Actemra?
Dx with gca may 2019, lots of other health issues,i.e. osteoporosis, esophageal issues, cervical/lumbar issues. Had a lot of issues with difficulty walking, weakness in legs & back maybe R/T high prednisone. Had pain a few times in my hips & thighs but not like this. I went from 6 1/2 mg pred to 6

Prednisone tapering and Acterma
I have been on prednisone for PMR for 3 years now. Started with 20 mg and now I stuck on 5-4 mg for a year already. Had several flare ups, still somewhat sore and tense over shoulders and buttocks. In addition I developed carpal syndrome. So my Rheumi suggested trying Actemra to help to reduce prednisone

Actemra fatigue
I’ve been giving myself my Actemra injection every Monday morning at 7:00 am. By 10:00 I feel like a freight train has hit me- not sick just really tired. I’m thinking maybe I should inject at night. Anyone else feel like this? Is it alright to inject at night?

Monitoring needs re Actemra TCZ
Hi I have seen a reference to at least monthly blood tests, but can't find my own notes. What should we request in terms of monitoring/testing for danger signals while taking TCZ ? Thanks.

Actemra Injection
I just gave myself my fourth Actemra injection with the automatic injector pen. The first three went perfectly. Just a small red dot at the site for about an hour with very little soreness. As I was giving this injection, the pen slipped a little but I moved it back and gave the injection. This time

Eye surgery And Actemra.
Question: Monday I had a laser procedure for glaucoma. One little hole in each eye. Pin prick. Opthomologist says ok to do Actemra right away. Neurologist says when eyes are “totally healed” do next actemra. The Opthomologist gave me eye drops for 5 days. Ok. Who to follow? Have waited two days

Muscle spasm
I developed a very painful muscle spasm in my right thigh and hip just as I got out of bed this morning. Is this a side effect of Actemra?

No Actemra...No new issues😊
When I arrived in Indiana with a staph infection in my leg, the infectious disease specialist sent me to a rheumatologist who told me to stop taking Actemra immediately. I had been giving myself weekly injections since October 2019. I'm presently taking 12mg of Prednisolone per day. What has amazed

GCA patient saw cardiologist yesterday, med changes
Hi all: So I took, my weatherman to Cardiologist yesterday. Routine checkup, because of the history of CABG 2005 and stent replacement last year and occasional chest pain with flareups. So during his visit yesterday, Mac told cardiologist about needing nitro 3x in one week with symptoms of GCA. This

Accents question
I am on Actemra til next August ( once a week) for GCA. Just wondering as I really didn’t have any worrisome symptoms other than an occasional slightly tight jaw while eating. They did the Artery biopsy which validated my Rheumatologist’s opinion. How do they determine if it is gone ? Is it just your

Good news and Great news~!!!
My 12-year-old grandson, Mattias, had a bad sore throat, headache and fever last Sunday and Monday. He had a test for Covid which came back negative this morning, thank heaven. Yesterday he called me because "my mom says you are concerned about me and I want you to know I feel much better." So did I

Scared of drugs. Take pred as no choice there. Now waiting for approval for actemra.
After much research I think the side effects are extreme and I am not willing to give it a try. Has anyone else rejected this treatment. ? I do ok on pred so I think over time the GCA will burn out As I think the PMR already has. Over the phone I also agreed to a yearly infusion of a biphosphonate as
