Having vaccine on a Actemra day?

Has anyone heard whether it isn’t a good idea to have the jab on the same day as your Tocilizumab day?

Don’t think it’s come up before - think you better check with Rheumy department.

I would ask the rheumy - there is evidence that it is better to have a methotrexate holiday so maybe it is the same. Are you on weekly or 2-weekly jabs?

Weekly. I’ll ring rheumy in the morning.

I too have asked this question of my Rheims nurse. She said the current advice is that we will be ok not stopping our Tocilizumab. She did ask what day I have it,which is Saturday, so I guess she thought I wouldn’t be having a vaccination on that day but I think I would want to avoid having both on same day. I think the problem is that they don’t really know but they are very keen for us to get protected. So let’s go for it.

My Rheumatologist, prominent, experienced and expert in our conditions and medications had told me to go ahead and have the vaccine without any precautions, I asked if I should stop ( Actemra) Tocilizumab for a week and she said no need. My common sense would prefer to have the jab on a non Actemra injection day. 🤞Apparently I am to be called mid February ( extremely clinically vulnerable, no. 4 in the priority levels,) I got a letter. This is the GCA/LVV Pred and Actemra, I expect. Roll on........

Plz do tell me how was your covid vacation experience and did you skip your Tocilizumb for a week after jab because mine is due on Monday and I am also on Tocilizumb

Hi Minah, I was absolutely fine having the jab. I didn’t feel a thing and had no after affects. I had mine on Sunday, having had my Toc on Thursday. There have been so many different ideas that it’s difficult to say what is right or wrong. Maybe avoid having them both on the same day, but, apart from that, don’t change anything.

Happy that you got it safely .you are right that there are so many different options from each and everyone due to their suition and experiences so I am not too much worried or anxious because I also have my appiontment with my Rehumotogiest in same week so for further advice I will ask her only which thing bothering me was that I am too sensitive with all kind of medicines in results have got reactions too but now first thing I will do go for jab and tell over there about my history of ellergy. Thank you for your response
