Rizatriptan

I use rizatriptan and OTC painkillers as migraine treatments. I have a neurologist appointment at the end of June so am wondering about requesting Vydura either as a treatment or preventative to try. Any information would be appreciated

I am on pizotifen and migraine care daily, and rizatriptan and aspirin for flare ups.

Hi, does anyone get depression when using rizatriptan? If so have you successfully changed to another triptan, if so which one? Thanks

2 - Does anyone use Rizatriptan - if so is it effective? The consultant said the Rizatriptan can only be used once a day and to save it for "emergencies". He also said to limit the use to maximum 3 times a week.

I now use rizatriptan when the migraine starts and it does stop it though it often comes back and I have to take a second and sometimes a third dose over three days. I am wondering what other peoples experience of migraine medication has been like.

I take rizatriptan & botox injections for migraines and I'm down to approximately 9 a month. I also have major depression disorder & multiple anxieties.

I forgot to ask: Did/does anyone take one of the available migraine medications such as Sumatriptan (also known as Imitrex), Rizatriptan (Maxalt), etc. at the onset or during your migraines? I have had a few migraines in the past and the Imitrex was often able to abort the full-on aura, etc.

And possibly facilitated further by the bad reaction to Rizatriptan (chest tightness, pain in my upper legs) that happened 2 weeks before the very first episode that ever occurred.

I take rizatriptan for it now. a.) All my tendons twitch a lot. b.) My mental state was still not as it was before (thought it was being a mom) c.) I used to be able to sing on key, now I have pitch issues and trying to adjust hurts my neck and throat. d.)

This was about a week after a doctor had prescribed me rizatriptan for headaches (not migraines!) and I experienced a bad reaction to it, chest tightness and upper leg pain - I only took it once and it was odd that afib started a week later - but who knows.

I have been on Amitriptyline since then and Rizatriptan (Maxalt), self administered Oxycodone and quite a few ED visits for Morphine etc. In the last 6 months or so migraines got much worse and almost an everyday event. You know how debilitating and crushed it makes you feel.

Have used rizatriptan alongside OTC meds all these years for 8-15 migraines per month!! I've always known them to be hormonal migraines, having kept a calendar for years and seeing the same patterns.

I take rizatriptan and cocodomol(45mg) I’ve recently seen a migraine specialist who suggested nortriptyline as a preventative. I’m now taking 50mg at night and it’s been up to 3weeks on this dose. He suggested upto 70mg but the side effects of awful sweats and nightmares are getting to me.

Also tried rizatriptan doesn’t work either. Just left the doctor today & im feeling extremely defeated/ upset he told me he doesn’t know what else to do & he can’t help me anymore. Either to take the propranolol or don’t regardless of my severe side effects.

I had a letter from my neurologist which got me a repeat prescription of sumatriptan, rizatriptan and propranolol (as an alternative for metoprolol) at my new GP. The migraines aren't good right now, though.

I've tried rizatriptan and frovatriptan, but they don't do much of anything for my migraines. Prior to February I was getting 4-9 migraines a month, which is pretty normal for me. I was diagnosed with menstrual migraines when I was 38 and was on lowestrin for 8 months.

Rizatriptan and advil do nip the pain in the bud if I take them early enough, along with ondansetron for the nausea/queasiness.
