I have a.mixture of vestibular migraine, chronic daily headache, medication overuse headache and cervicogenic headaches. They started in July 2023. Since then I have been on a heap of medications such as topirimate, doxepin, pizotifen etc. I have been in and out of hospital 8 times, the last one was for a week discharged last Wednesday. During that last hospital visit, I had a lidocaine infusions over 3 days. Since then, I still migraines, but they aren't as severe. Has anyone else had a lidocaine infusion, and if so, how long did the effects of it last for? I am happy that I have been able to do things again, and hopefully stay out of hospital. The Dr did put on my discharge documentation that if I attend ER again, to consider the lidocaine infusion again. I am currently waiting for the cgrp inhibitors to arrive in Australia and start them. I am on pizotifen and migraine care daily, and rizatriptan and aspirin for flare ups.

I haven't had an infusion but have had the greater occipital nerve block several times. This includes an injection of lidocaine, and the effects in my case lasted for 3-4 weeks each time. I have read of a method for self-administration of liquid lidocaine via the nostril with the aim of targeting the sphenopalatine nerve - this may be something to ask your doctor about, as it seems to be a technique that works for some people, although not one I have yet tried.
