Rheumatic fever

Knowing what I have read now can I suggest if anyone reading this has had rheumatic fever but never had an echo cardiogram or ECG they mention it to your Dr and ask if you should be checked out case any heart damage is developing. Prevention may be better than the cure.

I have a damaged mitral valve with stenosis and regurgitation ( caused by Rheumatic fever as a child) Started getting symptoms 8 years ago and gradually I have deteriorated. My last echo in March showed the stenosis had got worse.

I had a Liver transplant in 2019 and recovered well. I have travelled to Europe and the States since, however, I need to visit family in The Gambia with all the vaccines that entails. Has anyone post Liver transplant got experience of not having the live Yellow Fever vaccine and travelling to The Gambia

At the age of 7 I was diagnosed with rheumatic fever and was diagnosed with heart failure at the age of 9. I had my first heart valve replacement surger in 1992 and in 1996. I was fine for awhile then 2003 I had another one.

Hi everyone, am I the process of looking at a holiday. I know yellow fever vaccine is a big no no. Am on hydroxycarbamide and daily aspirin with a diagnosis of ET. Has anyone taken malaria tablets with such a condition? TIA.

Does anybody else suffer from headaches with Polymyalgia Rheumatica without Giant Cell Arteritis diagnosis? I don’t know if my morning headaches are PR symptoms or triggering migraines!

Can you help me. I have been taking Prednisolone which was recently lowered from 10 to 9 mg for Polymyalgia Rheumatica. I have problems sleeping so my GP prescribed 10 mg of Amitriptyline which doesn’t seem to help. Any suggestions please. I am 78 years old and get very distressed when I don’t sleep.

I understand mental health and arthritis can be linked. arthritis can cause mental health problems and visa versa . in juvenile arthritis I cant work out if daughter had mental struggles after or before as joint problems taken so long to be diagnosed.
