Supplements in 1st trimester extra folic acid
Do you take extra folic acid to the multi vitamin like Pregnacare? Is 400mcg folic acid the minimum daily amount or recommended amount? The reason im asking is Pregnacare is coated tablet, I start feeling bloated immediately after taking it, which isn’t the case for years until now I’m at early pregnancy

Alendronic Acid
I have had GCA for ten years now and as the result of the last of three relapses agreed to take 3mg of predisolone for the foreseeable future. When I last saw my Consultant she wanted me to go on Alendronic Acid. As things are at the moment I have a good healthy, natural, milky diet. The last DXA scan

Burning Mouth Syndrome with narcotic use
Has anyone experienced burning mouth/tongue while using narcotics for RLS? I think it may take a long while to occur after starting narcotics. I have reduced the BMS and occurrence of RLS using Solgar brand Omega 3 Fish Oil Concentrate (Amazon), which also greatly reduces joint pain, you can take 7-8

Мой опыт и мои мысли о прохождении радиолигандной терапии с использованием лиганда PSMA-617, содержащего изотопы 177Lu и 225Ac. Часть 2.
So, at the end of August 2020, a personal curator, a nice, friendly employee of the center, meets me at the airport, who gives me a local SIM card with an Internet package connected for free and takes me to the hotel that I pre-booked through Booking. First rheumatology appointment
Hi all I have my first rheumatology appointment next week and wondered if anyone has any advice. I was diagnosed with PMR in January and had pain in one shoulder which left me unable to lift a kettle. Then a couple of weeks later I had crippling pain in my buttocks and down both legs back and front,

The possible beneficial effect for the treatment of peripheral neuropathy of two neuroactive steroids, progesterone and pregnenolone
I was researching pregnenolone on the internet and came across this article. It may be of interest to anyone struggling with neuropathy. Pregnenolone is formed from cholesterol and is the precursor substance for numerous important endogenous hormones. Among others, progesterone, cortisol, and aldosterone

‘Supplementing’ supplements with whole-foods.
Before Parkinson’s symptoms came into my husband’s life, we generally tried to get all our nutrients from the food we ate (and had to supplement B12, D, and omega 3 because of a plant-based diet). Since following sites like this, we have added more B vitamins (B complex, B1, more B12), and magnesium

vitamin A test results
I’d be very grateful for an opinion on my vitamin A test results from Medichecks. (My GP told me ‘We don’t test vitamin A’, (!!!?), so I got private testing, though it’s not one of the cheaper tests. ) I know conversion of beta-carotene to retinol can be an issue in hypothyroidism, and although I have

Can I Reduce The Symptoms of ADHD Taking These Supplements?
Hi everyone, I am diagnosed with ADHD last week. My psychiatrist prescribed me Strattera (Atomoxetine). I have heart arryhtmia and learned that it is not recommended to use Straterra if you have heart arryhtmia. Also I learned that sudden deaths and stroke have been reported in adults taking atomoxetine

Bisphosphonates and joint problems - are these related?
For the second time this year I am about to have surgery to remove bone from a joint. In May this year I had a cheilectomy to remove bone from my big toe joint. I am now going to have surgery to remove bone from my collarbone (where there are bony spurs) and a decompression of my acromioclavicular joint

A Different View on Bone Protection
Replied to a question about bone protective medications on another forum today, and thought it might be of interest to some here at FPC. So pasting it here. Full disclosure: I have been taking denosumab (Prolia or Xgeva) for over 5 years and currently have normal bone density. I also take Calcium supplement

Test results, a penny for your thoughts?
Hello everyone, just had my latest blood tests done. Just curious what you would say about them, if you have the time? A few months ago I went up by 12.5mcg in an attempt to bring my TSH down to around 1 where I generally feel better. My weight is a lot better these days, my heart rate has finally calmed

osteoporosis and products to help
hi everyone. Been on alendronic acid for about 4 months but have had a small problem of irritation in my throat, causing coughing. Coughing is painful, having 4 spinal fractures in April. I’ve now been asked to change to zolondronic acid, yearly infusion. This is NOT the same as denusomab.

Brilliant review with pharmacist
Hi Everyone I’m just back from a review of my medication for PMR and high blood pressure with the surgery pharmacist. He was great and to me had a better understanding of this condition than any of the gp’s I’ve spoken to on the phone. He did admit that they don’t always understand the interactions

Fungus used in Chinese medicine improves sleep in rodents (and also impacts glutamine/glutamate)
This isn't an easy read but, if the results can be relied on, looks promising https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8837518/ Abstract Ganoderma resinaceum is a valuable Chinese medicine. This study aimed to investigate whether a G. resinaceum alcohol extract (GRAE) improves sleep, and analyze

Obeticholic acid
Hi everyone I was diagnosed around 5 years ago. Unfortunately I am not fully responding to first line treatment Urso. The Dr's are suggesting that I should start on Obeticholic Acid. I'm a little apprehensive due to the side effects listed. Is there anyone here who could advise please? Tia 😊

Elevated parathyroid hormone?
Is there any research, data, or personal experience with having parathyroid levels, but not blood calcium levels, become elevated while taking alendronate? I had been on alendronate very successfully (no side effects and a stabilized DEXA) for about 6 months when my TSH to monitor my decade long hypothyroidism
