GFR improvements possible?
I’m 58, my GFR in June was 73. I had an acute episode in Nov my number dropped it to 41, this was due to a flu, lack of sleep, using 7 different over the counter drugs for 6 weeks while working. Then 2 Prescribed drugs, and dehydration. My general doctor was panicked. I took a test two weeks later

Enlarged/prominent thyroid
Is it possible that a thyroid can be enlarged and absolutely nothing is wrong. I’m really struggling to get a hold on my health which has been dropped in the last year, particularly the last 4 months. I was certain I had thyroid issues but I’ve been told very bluntly by thyroid surgeon that I do not

Fluid-like sensation/pain in chest region - reflux?
Hi all, just a quick query. I’ve had this kind of persistent folding feeling around the breastbone that’s accompanied with this sensation that feels like there’s liquid in the surrounding chest region to the left and was wondering if anyone else has experience with a similar pain. I’m 24 and have had

Anxiety disorder makes every problem seem ten times worse.
Problems and anxiety are a normal part of life. Nobody is without them. But too much stress, worry, overwork or loss makes our nervous system oversensitive and when this change occurs we start to view the world differently. One of the main symptoms is that problems we're well able to cope with normally

Ear drops have brought on Tinnitus.
Hi. Had blocked ears so started Sodium bicarbonate drops but since then severe ringing (which makes watching TV difficult) has started I think in one ear. Syringing was unsuccessful yesterday so a further two weeks of the drops has been prescribed before the ringing. I don't use ear plugs but haven't

Newbie needing help one year on from hemithyroidectomy
One year after my hemithyroidectomy (due to 1" benign cyst) my endocrinologist has discharged me because my bloods are 'normal' and my symptoms since the op are apparently 'just coincidence' and she referred me for an ECG as it 'might all be caused by an underlying heart problem'. My ECG showed no abnormalities

Today I will have surgery for the development of my blood vessels to start the dialysis process. The impurities in my body are starting to build up. I have several gout locations. A foot is swollen this morning and my face is puffy. I know all of these are signs that it is time to take this step. My

Am I the only one?
I develop pains when I am under stress and panic - usually my stomach, I get trapped gas under my ribs, I belch, I start to have panic attacks and imagine I have every deadly disease out there. It can be triggered by a pharmecutical commercial. I lost my brother last year and his birthday was 2/2.

Signs of compensating?
Hello, my first time posting here. My fiancé (48 male) was diagnosed in the ER with cirrhosis caused by alcohol about 3 weeks ago. They said his liver was enlarged so they did an ultrasound, we went to a GI doctor a few days later and gave him a meld of 28 and put him on 2 fluid meds for ascites. He

My mum has been doing well. She has settled into the nursing home - since September. Two weeks ago she moved downstairs to a ground floor room opening into the garden with an ensuite and is very happy with her room. The only problem is that my mum hardly sits down and is up most nights wandering around
