Iodine and Povidone - A Chemistry Lesson
Over the years, we have seen many mentions of povidone-iodine. This video is the first time I have ever come across a proper explanation as to why povidone-iodine is chosen! It then continues with its aim of extracting pure iodine from povidone-iodine. The video could be very boring if you are

Under active Thyroid gland and FND
My son recently got his blood results and it was noted his Thyroid levels weren't in range and a re-test due in 3 mths, my mother had it too, so will be interesting to see my results in a few weeks time.I was however surprised to see how many of the symptoms he has/is experiencing, associated with FND

Had anyone tried LDN?
I've been clear of all medicine for the last couple of years. However, my latest MRI of my hands and wrists has shown lots of inflammation around the tendons and bones in my hand. My rheumatologist wants me to start taking steroids and then other immune suppressants further down the road. I have many

Hyperthyroidism symptoms
Since having several weeks iodine treatment on leg ulcer I started having a buzzing feeling in chest and sometimes thighs. Worse after eating. Making me feel very anxious. Gp did blood test for TSH level but came back normal (1.22). Have lost weight and wakes me at night too. What other tests could I

hi lovely forum friends. I’ve now been on NDT 4 months, all but a few days. My readings from 10 Dec are TSH. 0.092. (0.27-4.2) T3. 3.8. (3.1-6.8) T4. 13.7. (12-22) after this test I decided after posting here to raise my pm dose to 45mg and I take 60mg (Erfa) early morning. I’m now taking the

Hopefully, if you read this you’ve seen my original rant about the ablation (RAI) of my Thyroid for graves. You will have read that at the time, despite my almost blind faith in the GP and Endo (and their proposed care path), I had my reservations: I felt my condition had settled under the long use of

Hi all, Who uses private blood tests and where / how do you do them? I am under a consultant endo for hyper / graves but my bloods are only done every 12 weeks or so. I have been on 40mg carbimazole for nearly a year and finally my latest test apparently I’m hypo. This was found out the day I had

Also I was told years ago at my GP surgery that I should not be working night shifts while on Levothyroxine (I’m on it for life as I had

Very Scared and suffering with Graves Disease - don't know what to do next?
This is first time I have posted anything about this. I was diagnosed with Graves in 2016. Treatment then was satisfactory - mainly getting regular blood tests, mainly 3 monthly and hospital appointments but had two further relapses recently from 2021/22 and current one since Feb 2023 - each time getting

Asking for advice following RAI
My MIL, bless her had an RAI several years ago due to hyperthyroidism. I often wonder if they got it right as she never fitted the profile for overactive. I know she's always struggled with weight gain and if anything I would have said she was more hypo than hyper. Several years later she's never been

Odd Results?
Long time guys! Peculiar results today. RAI in 2014 and unwell since. Trialing 20mcg T3 and ERFA 30mg TSH 9.04 (0.27-4.2) T4 3.9 (3.1-6.8) T3 10.5 (3.1-6.8) TSH is usually well suppressed so hard to know what to make of these results. Still feel dreadful and think I’ve exhausted these medications

I wonder if my thyroid was going wrong for decades before I became hyperthyroid?
I went hyperthyroid about 19 years ago. My explanation for it has been that it came soon after the birth of my beautiful son (amazing but stressful of course) and then the sudden death of my father a year or so later. I was just rambling on an ADHD forum (DX in 2022 now titrating) and the question occurred
