Qvar question
Short version: possible Covid back in March, persistent breathlessness helped by salbutamol, was put on Qvar 50 2bd. 5 months on, docs are still saying I'm post-viral and can come off it any time, but every time I try, my lungs feel sore and itch intensely as if I've got mosquito bites inside me. Increasing

Do I need to be more patient?
I’m after some guidance/advice. I’ve been diagnosed with serve allergic asthma on Omalizumab, Fostair 200/6 2bd & qvar 100 4 puffs twice a day, ventolin as required. On montelukast, carbocestine, fexodenadine, various nasal drops. Had a flare up two weeks ago & had to attend a&E twice despite having

Hi, I'm new here and was recently diagnosed with asthma. I had a Covid-like virus at the end of March before testing was available in the UK, with breathlessness and low-grade fever. The fever lasted 18 days and still comes back occasionally. My bloods and chest x-ray were clear, and I had a negative

New diagnosis, working on getting meds right
I suspect this is likely to be a work-in-progress forever as the goalposts keep moving, but I thought I'd ask anyway. I've been on Qvar 50 2 puffs twice a day since mid-May, and I finally got to actually see the respiratory nurse for the first time since March, and she's increased it to 3 puffs twice

My Asthma preventive inhaler has been changed and the new one has made me feel worse after taking it for about two hours each time
I had been taking Qvar 100 twice a day preventative inhaler for three years after not being on any asthma meds for over twenty years and then in the last few weeks I felt bad after I had taken it and it didn’t seem to help anymore. My doctor changed me to the powder inhaler pulmicort turbhaler 200 twice

Diagnosis - asthma
I just got back from my first face-to-face appointment with a respiratory nurse. After 4 months of is-it-isn't-it I'm now a fully paid-up member of the club. Go me! Typically she saw me on a good day, too early for the evening chest tightness to kick in, but at least she gave me time to talk, was sympathetic

What is the difference between Pulmicort and Qvar? Is one stronger than the other?
Is Pulmicort Turbhaler 200 2 x a day a higher dose for Asthma than Qvar 100 2 x a day ? I have been changed to this after three years on Qvar but then feeling bad last few weeks due to pollen I think.

Coming off Qvar?
I realise this isn't the best place to ask about coming off a steroid inhaler, but I don't know where else to go other than my GPs' and it's quite hard to get through to them. I'm post-viral since March; maybe Covid, maybe not as it was too early for testing. The breathlessness and wheeze has just persisted

Silent reflux or asthma?
I'm undiagnosed - now 3 months post-suspected-Covid, still with laboured breathing, and an "itchy" and often sore chest especially on the right side. I've had 2 chest infections. Most days I'm pretty good in the mornings, then it gets tight after lunch and progressively worse until after dinner. Night

Nasal drops
Anyone used flixonase nasal drops? On these to try to help hay fever symptoms, as it has floored my asthma. Still on Omalizumab, fostair, qvar, fexodenadine, montelukast, ventolin, antihistamine nasal spray, Carboceistibe (sp), nasal wash out etc. and still having regular flare ups since January. Why

Reducing QVAR Dose
Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone had any experience with lowering their preventor dosage further? I was going to ask about it at my next review, as I am on Qvar 100 but for the last year I've reduced to one puff twice a day (at the advice of a previous review). Thanks! Steph

Inhalers and increased heart rate
Hi there, I’ve had a problem with an asthma flare up over the past few months and have been prescribed different inhalers to try. I was originally on clenil but this got changed to flutiform but I found myself really shaky and had an increased heart rate (which was very noticeable through the night).

Qvar and peak flow
I'm 12 weeks post-viral and have not been diagnosed with asthma. I (still) have breathlessness and itchy chest. I was given salbutamol 8 weeks ago and a trial of Qvar 4 weeks ago. I had an off-the-record chat with the respiratory nurse at the GP's where I work (not where I'm registered) last week. She

Desloratidine side effects?
I've just been prescribed desloratidine and was stupid enough to read the side effects first. OMG. Just in the "most common" section it lists all the problems that I'm supposed to be taking it for, and a load more! I'm currently taking Clarithromycin for a chest infection and I've had at least 6 of the

What are your triggers for asthma attacks?
I'm new to all this. I've been on Qvar for nearly 3 weeks and I'm still needing my salbutamol, 2 puffs 4 times a day with wheezing and shortness of breath in between doses. I've worked out that my triggers for sudden constriction of airways includes; heat, aerosol cleaners, smoke (candles and bonfires

Suspected Covid, now on Salamol & Qvar, questions
Hello all, newbie here so apologies in advance for any stupid questions. I'm 51, female, live in the UK's beautiful west of England, haven't had an inhaler since my teens and am not asthmatic. I'm 5'3", my O2 sats remain good, I'm not overweight and I'm a singer (can't sing now!) I had suspected Covid

Clenil or Qvar
I have taken Clenil for years and years - basically since it was decided it was better for the environment and I’ve been trundling along very nicely with no problems at all. I was recently given Qvar - it was back at the start of lockdown, there seemed to be some sort of a delay then I was told the pharmacist

New medication
Hi I’ve recently been diagnosed asthmatic following a nasty chest infection in Jan as breathing difficulties continued. I really am in the dark here & a little freaked out by the whole struggling to breath scenario. I have a blue Salbutamol inhaler and was originally given a brown QVAR inhaler but after

Bronchiectasis and allergic to certain antibiotics
Hello, I wonder if anyone else has this experience. I have had a chest infection on and off since Christmas. Sputum results showed staff or strep (can't remember) but it is the bug that is normally treated with Doxycycline or Clairythromycin. Unfortunately I throw up with the former and when I tried
