I've just been prescribed desloratidine and was stupid enough to read the side effects first. OMG. Just in the "most common" section it lists all the problems that I'm supposed to be taking it for, and a load more! I'm currently taking Clarithromycin for a chest infection and I've had at least 6 of the side effects listed.
Has anyone tried desloratidine? Did it help? Were any side effects worth it?
(Post-viral breathlessness for 10 weeks, not diagnosed with asthma, Qvar week 3 & salbutamol as required, which is quite a lot right now)

All medicines have to list every side effect ever reported. They might have been things people thought they experienced or things they did experience but that were completely coincidental and unrelated to the drug they're taking. Just because they're listed doesn't mean you'll experience them. A lot of asthma medicines say they can cause breathlessness, for example, which is of course what they're meant to help.
Desloratidine is related to loratidine which is an extremely common antihistamine available off the shelf (not sure specifically about desloratidine but I know it's similar), so suspect most people don't get the side effects.
I was on desloratidine for years, I didn’t have any side effects and done it’s job. It’s like any medication you take has side effects. If you get any side effects ring your gp
