Reducing QVAR Dose

Hi,

I'm just wondering if anyone had any experience with lowering their preventor dosage further? I was going to ask about it at my next review, as I am on Qvar 100 but for the last year I've reduced to one puff twice a day (at the advice of a previous review).

Thanks!

Steph

I just saw this post - apologies. I'm only on Qvar 50, 2 puffs twice a day. I'm 3 months post-viral, not diagnosed asthma. But when I asked my GP about whether/when/how to wean myself off it, he said weaning was not necessary, I could just stop it if I wanted (then prescribed me another inhaler - lol). The next morning I slept still lunchtime and thought I wouldn't bother to take my morning dose since the GP wasn't bothered. By evening I didn't know what to do with myself - I was panting and coughing. I obviously still need it.

I suspect that isn't what you meant though. Hopefully someone else can share some more useful experience. It sounds as if you're doing well. 👍
