High PTH
Hello, I’m post transplant 2 years and I currently have a high number for my
pth
glads. I was put on sensipar, didn’t help much at all and was taken off due to one of the side effects. Can someone recommend anything to help lower or any medication.

MRI all clear ‘normal’
ENT: Scan is normal,
PTH
is normal. Tells me what parathyroids are and what they do. Me: yeah I’ve watched the videos of the clinic in Florida, they say you can’t tell if they are malignant from a scan, should my calcium be tested?

Blood test follow up
Thank you all for your help. Results of discussion with doc - Parathyroid hormone: 10.93 (range 1.5-7.2), higher than range but lower than a year ago apparently (14+). This was a few months before my GCA diagnosis. Still waiting on results for B12, iron, folate. A year ago vit D levels and calcium

Blood test results - round 2
I posted three weeks ago requesting help interpreting blood tests I’d had done for thyroid and calcium. Thank you PMRpro for your help. I’ve since had my parathyroid hormone levels tested plus B12, iron, as I have been feeling excessively fatigued (ironically I’ve felt much better over the last few days

PTH testing
I requested my medical records and noted that the
PTH
sample I had taken was lost so there are no level for that. Is it important that I pursue this? I think it must be as it is one of the tests requested when a patient is diagnosed with osteoporosis.

Pth blood test
My
Pth
lab test showed 76, the normal number is 54. She said my parathyroid was the cause. Something about taking my calcium out of my bones. I don't understand. I have made an appointment with a Urologist.

Raised Parathyroid Levels
I didn't see the
PTH
test so assumed they hadn't bothered as the others were normal. However got a phone call from my GP this morning saying
PTH
elevated, needs retesting in 3 months. Logged in to my online access and my result was 7.8 and the range ends at 6.9.

Replace calcium with vitamin d
My question is: is there someone that has low
PTH
and has replaced taking calcium with taking vitamin D? If so, how much vitamin D do you take and how often?

Hyperparathyroidism
Hi there! I have been diagnosed as having possible primary hyperparathyroidism. I am a shocked that there is not a group for this disease. Can anyone help with this? So many people think I have something wrong with my thyroid when I say I have it, when in fact it is to do with the parathyroid glands

Saw GP about T3 prescription 🙄
.😮 please members don't be jealous 😂This was actually to discuss a report a private parathyroid surgeon wrote to him stating I needed Futher bloods (
PTH
,cal, vit D magnesium, phosphate) 24hr urine calcium test, pet chlorine scan to identify the nodule he found on the ultrasound scan.

Hypercalcemia under or overactive (para)thyroid?
My latest test came back with elevated calcium levels and thyroid hormone level (assume
pTH
) and a new gp is referring me to a specialist.

Blood results for vitamin /minerals
You probably know I'm struggling with top of the range calcium and over range
PTH
.. and top range
PTH
.. indicative of hyperparathyroidism for which 2 endos said I probably have. So is my body keeping the vit D down to help with calcium?

Elevated parathyroid hormone?
Is there any research, data, or personal experience with having parathyroid levels, but not blood calcium levels, become elevated while taking alendronate? I had been on alendronate very successfully (no side effects and a stabilized DEXA) for about 6 months when my TSH to monitor my decade long hypothyroidism

Big Ugh = Severe osteoporosis >> Rheumies plan rapid decrease of pred >> methotrexate or tocilizumab?>> how big a drop to next dose?
My
PTH
is actually slightly elevated. Do I assume that with severe osteoporosis that Prednisone will nail my bones? If not, how do I “prove” it? Prednisone has been a godsend for me.

'Too much' brain calcium may cause Parkinson's
Before my diagnosis I always had Low level of Vitamin D (like many of Pwpd) and High level of
(Parathyroid hormone) but normal calcium level. This study is from 2018 but Calcium concept has been intriguing me for years specially after I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Parkinson's disease.
