Is this radiation side effect?
About 18 months after his
prostatectomy
, his PSA was found high after a routine physical. From all that I've read and gathered, he has recurrent stage four prostate cancer. His physicians have not ever used "stage" when speaking with him, nor have they mentioned Gleason score to him.

Update: results of a recent PSMA PETscan
A quick synopsis of my history: an 18+ year journey: radical
prostatectomy
in August 2003. PSA following surgery was 0.1. It slowly rose to 0.4 over a period of 11 years. Following a more rapid rise to .6, I had salvage radiation in 10/2015. Unfortunately, it failed. PSA rose to 5.3 in 4/2019.

My father, who is 73, was dx'd with PCA in 2002, PSA 4.2, radical
prostatectomy
at Mayo, Gleason 3+4, one positive margin. PSA undetectable until winter 2003. Had seven weeks of radiation to the prostate bed at Mayo in early 2004. PSA remained undetectable until 2014.

New here and to this disease
My urologist suggested Dr Samir Taneja, who i have heard great things about, or Dr William Huang, both of NYU, and feels I should have a
prostatectomy
within 30 days if possible, and maybe followed by radiation.

NCCN re-revises low-risk guidelines
In some of these cases, upfront treatment with radical
prostatectomy
or prostate radiation therapy may be preferred based on shared decision-making with the patient.” I agree with their qualifications, but would add African-American ethnicity and PNI.

ADT vacation
Initial scans showed lymph nodes and bladder neck invaded with pc two months after
prostatectomy
done two years ago. Gleason score of 10. I plan to have my last Lupron shot next week (completes two year treatment), but Keytruda to continue till April, 2022.

Scan Results and Treatment Begins
So, 11 years after my
prostatectomy
and six years since my salvage radiation I’m back in treatment again. I got my first Lupron shot and have started on abiraterone. There may be treatment modifications after the holidays early next year. Let the games begin! John
