Compansated cirrhosis and liver synthetic function parameters improvement

I was diagnosed with compansated Cirrhosis. Now when I read that some people live 10 plus years with this condition. So my question to members, what are there liver synthetic function parameters? After diagnosis, will it ever improve or stay like that for years. My platelets are 50000 and my hepatologist said it will never go beyond 70000. In compansated Cirrhosis can you expect synthetic function parameters to improve? I am sober for the last 6 months,I eat well,I have 3 times bowl movement. I can walk 3 miles easily without getting tired with some what muscle pain.i am vegetarian. My meld score is 13 right now.

Hi, they most definitely can. 20 months ago I was diagnosed with decompensated cirrhosis. I was in such a state I was told I had less than a year.

I have now got totally normal bloods. Giving 15 + years ( max so far, used to be 12 years)

It takes time but focus on living each day as healthy as you can. The rest will follow

Consultant, they go on the average from diagnosis and your current health. When diagnosed the maximum was 12 years for compensated. It changed to 15+ when I asked for the full info.

I had cirrhosis for at least 27 years before I needed a transplant. I had varices but no ascites so don’t know if I was compensated or not. Good luck.

i also went through what DaveQ67 did, i had decompensated liver they told me i had 2 weeks to live tops, but i got past that, then they said i needed a transplant but would die if i did, so i carried on then the cave me 1-2 years. Then i got that much better they now say i dont need on but will probably die at 60 (im 44) so i figure by the time im 50 there will be a lot of medical wonderful advancements and developments ill be happy to die in my 70s so dont get too hung up on these death sentances you sound your doing great, my platelets are always between 60-80 (normal 150) and they said it will never be normal, but hey i hate being ’normal ’ anyways!

Keep doing what your doing Dave is right, it will fall into place give yourself time xx
