Yet I’ve read that “A few common stimulating over-the-counter medications to watch out for include Actifed chlorpheniramine and phenylephrine, pseudoephedrine, and acetaminophen, chlorpheniramine, and phenylephrine.” Does anyone know of an anti-allergy medication which is safe for those with AF?

There have long been questions about those with thyroid issues taking phenylephrine, in any form. Including used by ophthalmologists during operations. The latest news suggests not being able to take phenylephrine might not make much, if any, difference!

It contains Paracetamol, Phenylephrine and decongestion. Does anyone know if this will interfere with my daily Bisoprolol. Unlike many of you on this website I am only on 1.25mg. daily.

I've been taking Tesco cold and flu tablets for the last few days; it contains phenylephrine hydrochloride. Could this have triggered the episodes? I'll stop taking them and see what happens.

I read when looking up cold medications that I was supposed to avoid some decongestants and specifically the ingredient phenylephrine which would be active in those. I have just also come down with COVID.

There seems to be some evidence on the web that Phenylephrine Hydrochlorate can cause heart arrhythmia. Im interested to know if other people have experienced this side effect? Thank you

Previous episodes were caused by cold remedies containing Phenylephrine Hydrochloride, and good old stress. Just thought I'd post this as a heads up to fellow sufferers. Anyone else out there know of other triggers we Affibbers should avoid?

I recently got my eyes dilated with tropicamide and phenylephrine on October 9th 2017. A week and 2 day's later I say ghost images in light and starburst with and without my glasses. It's November and its still going on. Has anyone else had this same effect and if so did it take time to go away.

I checked the ingredients and I'm pretty sure the decongestant Phenylephrine hydrochloride was responsible for this as checking the possible side effects it says it could cause tachycardia or irregular heartbeat.

I've seen an opthalmologist and all they've given me is phenylephrine hydrochloride 2.5% eye drops which lift my left eyelid for a short period of time. I've been taking selenium and avoiding environmental triggers but have not noticed anything helping very much.
