Will IMRT give some relief to very painful bone mets?
My husband is in excruciating pain from the numerous pca bone mets on the spine, shoulder, chest and is now doing 20 IMRT sessions for palliative pain relief. We have done several chemo combination over the past 5yrs but cancer just kept progressing. This is his first ever radiation since diagnosis

Mandibular (trigeminal) nerve interference... relief?
For over a week I have experienced discomfort in my left ear and jaw, with some headache also on the left side. Over the weekend the discomfort worsened a bit to the point of occasional "pain." (The issue is not one of intense pain, thankfully, but mostly of persistent ongoing discomfort of a minor headache

Back on Oxycodone
I had been taking Temgesic 700 mcg daily for a few months after buprenorphine patches. At this level I still had breakthrough RL and also a very dry mouth, hoarseness and some difficulty swallowing dry food. Prof. Walker had suggested that I go back on oxycodone which I had taken for two years - changing

NEVER CUT SLOW RELEASE MEDICATIONS
If you are on slow release Oxycodone etc NEVER cut it unless you are looking for a quick exit. You will stop breathing ..Yes you will die .They do make them very hard to cut however we have put it to the test and my husband was able to cut it. You will get the full dose very quickly instead of it

All regular use sublingual opioid medications etc how to protect your teeth.
REGULAR use of sublingual medications, from opioids to Valium etc I break mine into tiny pin head size pieces with a pill cutter. I know 200 mcg Temgesic or 2 mg of Buprenorphine looks very small, however I have followed this process for over 3 years now. - Reasons - Absorption in seconds - Better

Help from those taking Methadone
I need a shoulder replacement and is scheduled soon. I have been taking methadone to control my RLS. When I told my surgeon that I was taking methadone, he told me that he could not manage my pain. He said that anything that he gave me wouldn’t control my pain. He suggested to ask my neurologist or go

Post spine fusion pain management
Hi all 13 years ago I was diagnosed with degenerative discs, facet joint disease causing immense low back and sciatic pain. I went for a disc decompression and waited for it to heal, unfortunately pain increased so I went back to the consultant, we took another MRI and to his surprise he could no longer

management of pain meds and itching.
Hi, my doctor has me on oxycodone but I have noticed for me to get the pain med dose to a therapeutic one, the oxycodone causes unbelievable itching not relieved by meds. How do you on pain meds get the dose up high enough and avoid itching over entire body?

Switching from Oxycodone to Pregabalin
I’ve been using oxycodone to control my RLS and help me sleep for around 2 years. Recently because of some severe stress in my life and an element of increased tolerance the dosage has crept up to 25mg mostly taken before bed. I think it is time to at least take a rest from this drug and try something

Little blue pills and linctus
The helpful palliative care consultant at Harefield has prescribed for me Oxycodone tablets and codeine linctus. These are to try and manage the worst of my symptoms, coughing and breathlessness. So far they are helping. Though I'm having to go to bed early I've been very busy. Last week I had yoga

sick of the pain
I have a lot of different things going on with my body , the latest is crumbling spine. The pain is now unbearable. I have tried all the pain meds out there , ie morphine, oxycodone etc nothing seams to help. I think that the only way to stop the pain is to end this existence myself. I have that much

Restarted convulsions after being off Ropinirole for a year
When I came off it and started Oxycodone I used to get an involuntary spasm in my abdomen at night. It's like the stomach muscles contract instantly & goes on & off for a few hours.I did reduce Gabapentin (300) from 3 tabs a day to 2 a day but that was months ago.Sleeping is horrendous now so off to

Another can't sleep puzzle!
I would really appreciate a direction to go! For over a year, maybe 2 now I have had a problem almost every night, at exactly the same time. No matter how tired I am or how comfortable I am when I go to bed I know that soon my tailbone area will start to throb, my bladder will start to feel like I have

trying to be normal
So I’ve had restless legs syndrome for over 25 years and I had been on ropinirole at least that long. I was up to 3 mg an evening on the ropinerol and it was getting worse. when I was able to meet with a doctor here in California who is very familiar with restless leg syndrome.. I am now on oxycodone

Jelbea in reply to dickJones and anyone on buprenorphine patches or tablets.
I have not posted for some time as I have changed from Butec patches to Temgesic sublingual tablets and have been having some issues. Firstly, as dickJones has found out the patches definitely do not last seven days for most people. When I started the patches (15 mcg) I was getting reasonably good

RLS Meds & Post-Surgical complications
I had a knee replacement a year ago. It went well, except my doctor took me off my Tramadol, 100 mg/3 per day, while keeping me on my 100 mg, 3x/day Pregabalin—it works well together. Instead he had me on 5 mg of Oxycodone every 4 hours. He thought the Oxycodone would an effective substitute for the

After suffering terrible nausia and actual vomiting side effects I asked for advise. I would like to thank Joolsg and LotteM for taking the time to help me, both gave excellent advice and so far I'm doing much better. I am trying to hold off taking any Buprenorphine until I have my evening meal (6pm
