Buprenorphine

After suffering terrible nausia and actual vomiting side effects I asked for advise. I would like to thank Joolsg and LotteM for taking the time to help me, both gave excellent advice and so far I'm doing much better. I am trying to hold off taking any Buprenorphine until I have my evening meal (6pm) and I only take half a tab. I then take the other half 1and a half hours before bed and so far this is working well. B is great at controlling the RLS, my only problem has being able to take enough of it to work WITHOUT getting the vomiting side effects. For the record I had been on oxycodone and latterly Targinact for years before the switch to B, brought about because of a decrease in effectiveness. Also, without this wonderful forum I would never have heard of B, (or for that matter oxy or targin)

Thanks again to all,

fuzzie.

Good news fuzzie. Thanks for posting. I am very happy this works out so well. Just to clarify, do you take you first half of buprenorphine before, with or after your evening meal?

Hi LotteM,

After reading advice I try to take B on a full stomach so yes, just after finishing evening meal. They say taking it on an empty stomach is more likely to induce vomiting. I ought to clarify that these pills or parts of are to be placed under the tougue and allowed to dissolve, not swallowed. I really like the extended half life time compared with oxy/targin which latterly would not provide cover over a nights sleep for me. Having said that oxy/targin were a like saver for me after DA's etc and I never increased the dose even after several years.

So sorry to hear about your horrible side effects. I have suffered RLS for 57 years, I have never heard of the medication to mention. My doctors and specialists many I have seen over the years are all at a loss as to what to prescribe. Only ever 2. Pramipexole or Ropinerole. I hope I have just discovered that by swapping back and fore once augmentation starts has helped me so much. Been 2 months free of RLS.

Just beware the compulsive gambling side effect of pramipexole.

That's good to hear fuzzie. How long ago did you start the buprenorphine?Do you take any anti-nausea medication with it?

Hi, I am about to start on the patch, been putting it off for that very reason!I was hoping because I’ve been on targin for yrs the nausea might pass me by,

Targin has destroyed may appetite but no nausea.

Is this not the case??

Hi, Targinact never affected my appetite, I did get nausia but rarely.

I'm really pleased it's a little better. You could even delay taking the first dose an hour or two after your evening meal.If the nausea persists, do try Quells or fresh ginger grated in hot water with some honey or medical cannabis oil.
