I also tried
Orencia
, did not work. The Dr. has now put me on Actemra. I am only on my 2nd shot, so we will see if it works. I suffer from extreme head pressure at times, elevated
BP. I haven't been sleeping very well even with sleeping pills. And the list goes on.

Thoracic Back Pain
I am still trying to decide if I want to try
Orencia
or not. It's a hard decision for me to make. My illness is a real long story so right now I would like to know about the back pain. I have hurt all over my body and I don't know what to do.

Will any medication ever help ?
This is my 4th biologic (
Orencia
) and getting ready to start on my 3rd DMARD (Sulfasalazine). I have been on Methotrexate, Enbrel, Cimzia, Leflunomide and Actemra. Nothing has helped. Last 2 days I can hardly walk because of the pain in my hip. RA is a nasty thing.

Orencia
Hello Everyone, I'm on
Orencia
, 3rd infusion, and I ache so bad. Just wondering if this is a side effect that goes away. If not, can't see continuing this drug. I want to give the drug a fair chance, but I don't know. Anybody else with the same experience? Thanks

I posted about
orencia
a few weeks ago. My question is, I'm at four months now without any improvement at all. Actually I might be slightly worse. Is it possible that in the next month or two that I would suddenly see improvement? I'm getting very discouraged. I see my rheumy tomorrow.

DON'T FORGET TO GET YOUR FLU VACCINES & pneumococcal pneumonia or streptococcus pneumonia, Haemophilus influenza and staphylococcus aureus.
The new biologic medications (rituximab,
orencia
and Benlysta) can increase the risk of infection. Corticosteroids, including prednisone, increase the risk of infection. The higher the dose of corticosteroids you’re on, the longer you’re on the dose, the greater the risk of infection.

When to give up on a biologic (abatacept)
I have posted on here before about the length of time it took for abatacept (
orencia
) to work. Well I’m at five months now without the slightest change in my symptoms. I don’t know if I am wasting my time , or if waiting another month will make a difference.

I am wondering how long it has taken for
orencia
injections to kick in for others. I've been taking the injections for two and a half months, and so far I haven't seen much improvement. Feeling kinda discouraged.

Orencia infusion and injection
Hi everyone, to those who have been following me, I had my first loaded infusion and injection. It went really well yesterday and I will be doing my next injection in one week, next Tuesday. I had no side effects from the medication and I am hoping that over the next several weeks I will start to

Rock bottom: any ideas?
Have tried many meds: methotrexate, sulfasalzine, plaquenil, humira, enbrel and
orencia
- with no real improvement. Just horrible side effects. I've also had two knee synovectomies and so many steroid injections that I've lost count.

In the UK it is known as Abatacept but in Canada it is known as Orencia.
I am on Tocizumab injections at the moment but will be starting on
Orencia
infusions first then I can have injections if all goes well. I have received my welcome pack and waiting for a call to advise when the nurse will come to give me the infusions in my home.

Leg cramps and leg "jerks"
Am back on
orencia
, plaquenil, methotrexate, prednisone and diclofenac. I've had the RA for 40yrs. Anyone have an idea re: the leg cramps. Not able to sleep well at night or naptime. 😉

New to RAand wondering how long for biologics to work?
Saw a new rheumatologist-tons of blood tests-put me on
orencia
and plaquinel but first a big round of prednisone. Just gave myself 6th shot and am doing 5mg daily of prednisone as well as 400 mg of plaquinel ( 5 in AM/5 PM). Last week babysat for grands and it has cost me in my back and legs.

Question ?
I have been through four DMARD's, Humira,
Orencia
, will not risk Actemra due to diverticulosis. I am allergic to Naproxen, Sulla, Chlorpromazine, Imitrex, Lefludamide, Clindamycin and Asprin so far.. I am torn.

Allergies ?
That was how I reacted to
Orencia
. Problem is I still have a severe infection in my jaw from bad root canal. They left a piece of wire in root which has now accessed. Never ending aggravation. Like we do not suffer enough with RD! It has been such a bad year for weather here in Vancouver.
