I've been taking 900mg of gabapentin with extremely limited success. I've not had any joy to date in getting opioids prescribed. My partner had some Codeine from a recent hospital stay and I've started taking this as a trial. To date (and it's early days) it seems to have been a game changer and I've been getting some decent sleep. I find the best combination is 600mg of Gaba and 30mg of Codeine. However I've read that you should not take these drugs together as they both work on the CNS and can cause extreme drowsiness, difficulties breathing, coma and death! 😮. However I don't feel drowsy at all - I haven't felt this good in a long time due to getting some good sleep! No breathing difficulties either and I'm still working out. Does anyone have any experience of taking the 2 drugs together? Thank you 🙂

If you haven't had any breathing difficulties or extremely sleepiness I wouldn't worry about it.
I'm glad you have found something that works.
There was a study linking gabapentin and opioids to respiratory depression. But usually only in those with pre existing respiratory issues. You should now push for codeine on prescription.
The new NICE cks guidance sets out that an opioid can be prescribed.
Are you taking gabapentin in split doses 2 hours apart?
