I don’t know how anyone gets through waiting for surgeries
Just venting here... I have my first of two brain surgeries on Tuesday, and I’ve been off the charts anxious. Luckily no actual panic attacks, but my god, how does ANYONE do it w or w o anxiety and depression?! It’s been a struggle for the last two weeks, and I’m back on a low dose of clonazepam that

Early Days!
I started this blog first part of May 2018 and I began writing again. I think I have something to tell people with multiple sclerosis. I think my writing also helps newly diagnosed people so they understand what can possibly happen to them. I also have to admit that it’s cathartic for me to write.

I’m sick of being called selfish
*Trigger warning* I wonder if anyone else who’s maybe had an SA or serious ideation has ever been labeled as selfish by friends/family? My husband tells me all the time when I get those automatic suicidal thoughts how selfish it is of me to want to just check out. I told him today, I always wonder,

Cognitive Rehabilitation for smart people :)
Have you found anywhere that offers cognitive rehab for your issues? I have suffered cognitive loss for a long time, but because I'm highly functioning I was always dismissed. My first blow came after a massive brain tumor at 19. I did not recieve any therapy, but I know I lost a lot. I taught myself

Maybe dreams can come true..
My last hope in getting better is going to come true! I’ve been accepted into the clinical trial, and I’m going to have my first brain surgery in about 3 weeks! This means if it works, I might be able to stop ECT treatments finally, and I could potentially FINALLY get my life back from this depression

Concussion aside, a diverse range of symptoms saw me referred to ENT,

, Neurology and Neuropsychology. It was the Neurologist who suggested an ANA blood test due to my history. Bingo! Positive ANA saw me referred to Rheumatology and a diagnosis.

Bad Role Model
-Potential trigger warning- My very supportive grandfather (the only member of my childhood family who’s still in my life), was telling me yesterday that his good friend’s daughter tried to hang herself the other day, but the belt broke. Personal experience with Cushing’s Disease (hyperCortisolism) and with hypothroidism and hypothyroidism.
This was actually a response I wrote to a user that asked how hyperthyroidism is in tandem with hyperCortisolism. It’s long, I hope readers realize I am not an expert in what I have written, but I have lived it! Some of the way this response is worded may sound out of context, I copied it from my original

Brain Surgery Anyone?
I’m 28 w TRD and just went for a screening to see if I qualify for a clinical trial of Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS). DBS is brain surgery where they implant a device in your brain -it looks like a meat probe thermometer- and it sends small electrical impulses to your brain and alleviates depression.

Depression/Loneliness after brain surgery.
I am four years post operation from having a brain tumour removed when I was 17. I developed epilepsy and lost half my eyesight as side effects to the operation. Although very lucky to be here, I feel guilt that I have been given a second shot at life and I am not enjoying it. I have seeked help with

Bilateral ECT & DBS
I have major depressive disorder and anxiety, and I’ve had nearly 90 ECT treatments since 2012 and I just increased my treatments to bilateral last week. I feel like I cannot comprehend simple information anymore. I’m currently rereading a book and I just really don’t know what I’m reading and I feel

Neurosurgery in Parkinson Disease: A Brief History and Look Forward
When it became evident that patients would experience dyskinesias and on/off periods after long-term use of levodopa, whether from the drug itself or from the disease's progression, attention returned to pallidotomy and thalamotomy in the 1990s. https://www.neurologyadvisor.com/movement-disorders/
