Private endo who actually tests correctly and prescribes either t4 and t3 or NDT and is not bonkers!
Hi I would love recommendations for sane and sensible endocrinologists in the UK who do correct and fully thyroid testing and prescribe either t4 and t3 or NDT. Thank you!

TPO Antibodies & Fertility Problems
Hello, just wondered peoples thoughts or experiences? I have never been diagnosed with a thyroid issue but after near 2 years of TTC and 2 miscarriages I do wonder if things could be better in the TSH/TPO antibody side of things. My GP has never shown a concern with it I have basically had to beg her

Goitre and antibodies but bloods all fine
Hi, I developed a fairly big lump in my neck in July 23. Did the 2 week wait thing and had an ultrasound and saw an ENT consultant. They diagnosed a thyroid nodule and said it looked normal with no need for FNA. Consultant asked for endo to see me and I am still waiting for this or any acknowledgment

Newbie - Is this Normal? Should I have Treatment?
Good morning! I'm a newbie here and i'm just unsure as to whether I should accept what my GP is telling me and put up with it or go private. A bit of history - I'm 46, female, overall good health historically but diagnosed with Premature Ovarian Deficiency (Early menopause) in my early thirties.

Please could somebody help with reviewing my latest test results.
Please can somebody help to interpret my results please.I have been going through a really bad patch since an endocrinologist took me off my Armour medication in November as she disputed whether i needed to be on any medication at all. I was on 3 grains at that stage and she cut it down to 1 and then

GP appointment and blood tests - will recent steroid injection skew results?
Afternoon everyone, I had a GP appointment yesterday to discuss my symptoms. Went through everything that has happened since the summer. She sent me for blood tests today which included CRP, ESR, Rheumatoid factor and various other tests relating to autoimmune conditions. She insisted I call back for

what next?
I was diagnosed with PMR five years ago and my gp kept me on Prednisolone for two years which resulted in a catalogue of side effects including glaucoma and cataracts. My diagnosis was confirmed as RA shortly after. I have been taking methotrexate successfully since. However my condition has worsened

Private test results
My results from private appt . Doctor recommends starting levothyroxine 75mg and retest in 8 weeks. Would have liked to prescribe t3 but due to my history of graves disease decided levo was worth a trial. Any experience with levo or T3 from former graves patients would be helpful to know. Latest bloods

NDT dosing confusion, how to make it work?
Hi All, Trying to understand the NDT dosing and if it's working for me. They say 1 grain of Erfa is about 100 McG of levo. However, 1 grain only gives you 38 McG of T4. So if I was on 88 McG of levo before NDT and I now take 1 grain of NDT instead, I only get 38 McG of T4? How does the 1 grain equals

going up the walls
guys I am seeking advice. after having my children in 2013 and 2015 I have never been the same person. I have suffered with every single symptom of hypothyroidism. in the end i actually went hyper for a few years which other than the hair loss and lack of sleep I thought I’d become well again. Well

PMR symptoms after steroid injection 12 days ago
Happy New Year everyone. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas .🎄 I posted just before Christmas about awful shoulder and neck pain and that I saw a private doctor who thinks my symptoms are PMR. He gave me a steroid injection. It has helped dampen down the pain. It was excruciating but has since

steroid injection
Hi everyone Happy New Year to you all. Can anyone answer my question if it's safe to have a steroid injection for frozen shoulder if you have open angle glaucoma? Don't know what to do. Many thanks in advance.

A better appointment today!
After months of visiting the doctors surgery and having small levo increases with no change in my symptoms i have finally seen a sympathetic and intrigued doctor. He was reading my notes whilst i was explaining my symptoms and that 50mcg levo isn't cutting it, he stopped me in my tracks and said "no

steroid injection for back pain with pain team?
hello, I have had back pain for as long as I remember however 3 years ago was the first episode of severe spasm in my whole back making me collapse and couldn’t be moved for hours. I was put on gabapentin for 2.5 years which I have tapered off because I’m not sure the problem was nerve pain and the mri

as the wife of the above, does anyone think that his thyroid hormones are low enough to benefit from thyroxine? I am able to obtain thyroid hormones privately if necessary. Thank you.

Could chronic urticaria be related to underactive thyroid?
I've had under active thyroid for 5/6 years and have been on a dose of 50mcg of Levothyroxine for all of this time. This year I developed chronic urticaria and then a different kind of dermatitis/eczema and I want to rip my skin off it's so itchy. This week I did an Advanced Thyroid Function Blood Test

Thyroid hormones in the regulation of brown adipose tissue thermogenesis
This paper is the fourth most-cited in 2023 from the Endocrine Connections journal. Basic thyroid research is interesting. It is read. Scientists and some medical professionals do want more understanding. As do patients. It gets pretty complicated but the point is, thyroid hormone controls temperature
