My results from private appt . Doctor recommends starting levothyroxine 75mg and retest in 8 weeks. Would have liked to prescribe t3 but due to my history of graves disease decided levo was worth a trial. Any experience with levo or T3 from former graves patients would be helpful to know. Latest bloods from private Gp tests are attached . Any advice would be greatly welcome . Thankyou.

We should always start on levothyroxine
when you retest in 8 weeks
Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Your folate is low
What vitamin supplements are you taking
Presumably you are supplementing vitamin D and B12?
Likely to benefit from daily vitamin B complex
supplementing a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid)
This can help keep all B vitamins in balance
Difference between folate and folic acid

B vitamins best taken after breakfast
Thorne Basic B recommended vitamin B complex that contains folate, but they are large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule)
Thorne currently difficult to find at reasonable price, should be around £20-£25. iherb.com often have in stock. Or try ebay

Igennus B complex popular option too. Nice small tablets. Most people only find they need one per day. But a few people find it’s not high enough dose
IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg)

As your serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), you may be able to reduce then stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex……unless you have Pernicious Anaemia
Hello, Thankyou for your advice . I have supplemented b12 with a few shots but it is now too high so will stop that. I have thorne b complex but it has b12 in it so need to find just b. Vits as I'm not sure how long for the b12 to go down also D3 k2 for vit d . You're recomendations have helped increase my vitamin levels . Ferritin has gone high not sure why as I'm not supplementing that one. Will be starting Teva levo tomorrow so hoping to see an improvement in symptoms . So grateful for all the advice on here it has been a god send.

you would expect B12 to be high after injection
You could initially just take a separate methyl folate ….then after week or so alternate folate and vitamin B complex
After month just go back on vitamin B complex daily
Then week before blood test…..stop B complex and just take folate
