More info
I wish I had been given more info when I was diagnosed with
Nash
. I didn't have a computer at that time, and was reliant on my daughter.More info from the specialists would have put my mind at rest

Are you aware of any new treatments being researched?
Do you feel that you need a specific treatment for fatty liver or
NASH
? How do you feel about participating in clinical trials?

What I wish my doctor told me when I was first diagnosed with Nash...
He basically told me I have
Nash
but he did not explain anything else. No treatments, nothing. I did not know it could be a death sentence. I feel lost.

What or where has been your most useful information source?
Fatty liver and
NASH
isn't commonly understood so was there anything that you found really useful if you tried to find out more? An online article, a charity, your friends/family?

The most frustrating thing about NASH is
You have multiple doctors with your family doctor putting all the pieces together; test results that don't meet
NASH
conditions; treatments and life expectancy (just to name a few examples). We are all different human beings trying to be fit into one category 😞

The not knowing
I have never met a gp who knows of
Nash
. I worry constantly about the outcome of my illness even though I watch my diet etc. More study needs to be done to help us conquer this disease

Being accused of being a liar by people who always associate cirrhosis with alcohol You have to explained what NAFLD &
NASH
mean. Then you get a lecture about the liver healing itself if we would just stop eating so much.

@What the heck is it?" "Where does it come from?" "Why me" A diagnosis should only be the beginning, I know for some that is very comforting, they have a name to give or a reason for their symptoms (if they had any) now. But most patients, and I was one, who was not given any advice apart from - "lose

How were you first diagnosed with Fatty Liver (or NASH)?
First question of the series is all about your diagnosis. For example: Did you have any symptoms that triggered the diagnosis? Did your doctor suggest testing for it? What tests did your doctor do? Was it because of any other existing conditions? Please share your experience below :)

The most frustrating thing about being diagnosed with fatty liver or
NASH
is the small amount of information and advice I have had from past gp's. I was encouraged not to worry too much, and, importantly, I was NOT told to lose weight.

What did your physician say you should do about Fatty Liver (or NASH)?
Thanks for all your responses yesterday! Next question...when you were first told about your raised liver enzymes or given the fatty liver diagnosis, what did your doctor advise you to do? Lifestyle changes, treatments etc?

Hello I am brand new to the group, and sure am glad to have found you!
It sure helps to know there are other people on the same journey and I was diagnosed with PBC,
NASH
, auto-immune hepatitis, granulomas and sarcoidosis in my liver in 2002. The diagnosis was made through LFTs, positive AMA, and a liver biopsy. So I am sure my doctor is spot on.

I'm a little embarrassed about asking this but 4 months ago I was diagnosed with
NASH
. I am trying to lose weight exercise more etc. My liver has good & bad days. This week my husband & I had a serious argument. This is not rare in our 40 year marriage !
