Movicol

hi all, 3.5 year old as been on max dose movicol sachets plus stimulant for months and months on a disimpacrion regime, we have increased additional fluids and she usually opens her bowels on the potty. We cannot reach rusty tea, everyday we get mr whippy type pancake poo in the potty.

We have been prescribed movicol, and baby gaviscon, but so scared to be over medicating him.... I am also constipated but afraid to take anything in case it makes him sicker. Has anyone else been through this? Looking for advice and some positive light at the end of the tunnel! X

He is on movicol from GP which means his poo is soft and sausage like, but he is still holding for days and hopping around and just terrified. We have tried books, exploring poo etc etc, and are clueless what the future holds.

My son was 43, he had scoliosis and lordosis and severe learning difficulties, he also had a wicked sense of humour and loved going out in his wheelchair In 2018 my son went to a & e after vomiting faeces, he was diagnosed with a blockage and given enemas and sent home with a prescription for movicol

Once we are at disimpaction, I plan to stay on this max dose (8 junior movicol) for another 2-3 days then very very slowly reduce this time! Thanks for your time and reading!

Hi, pretty much from birth my daughter has had trouble passing stool, is now 14 months old and on Movicol. She has 1 sachet a day and this works, she starts going regularly and the poo becomes softer, but then she starts pooing 3-5 times a day. Is this normal?

We were prescribed movicol and are now on day 6 and 12 sachets a day. Our son doesn’t have much of an appetite and has been sick on 3 days out of six- he still gets stomach pain mainly at the end of the day. He is pooing 3-4 times a day - it was quite watery but has now got a bit more solid.

Taking movicol but I don't think I'm doing enough poo. And walking on this leg knee and ankle Is creating a problem in other bones. I'm wondering if I should go for camera down .

I am taking sachets of Movicol to apparently regularise again. My lifestyle hasnt changed nor has my diet yet this has started. My question is has this happened to anyone else who has been diagnosed?

Maintenance dose of 3 sachets of movicol. Until..... The past week or so her poos have been runny, so I reduced the dose of movicol down from 3 to 2.5 per day. Now the past couple of days she is showing signals of withholding again.

On movicol to try and poo how long can I go without a poo guts feel bloated and drinking plenty of water. I have a CT scan next Thursday on pelvis area. Can't go on like this.

have been fobbed off and ill the last 4 years when something could have been done, I've been suffering with weight loss, malnutrition, pain down my left leg and back and terrible cramps/overflow diarrhoea because i can't pass stool properly, I was stuck on nortriptyline, nutritional supplements and movicol

The lactulose wasn't working so I went to our GP who prescribed him movicol, 4 sachets on the first day and then add an extra 2 sachets each day until he reached 12 sachets... if he reached 12 sachets and still hadn't passed the stool the to get back in touch... but the GP was sure he wouldn't reach

my daughter is 3-1/2 she has been on movicol since she was a baby she has 1 sachet a day but every few months she get constipated and doesn’t go for a week or so.

He withholds his wee and poo and is on movicol maintenence 4 sachets a day. We had a long break of not trying potty training or even talking about it for a couple of months but now we are starting to introduce the idea again.

I'm a bit stressed out as, if he does need disimpaction, I can't even begin to think how I would manage to get that volume of Movicol in him. Are there other methods of disimpaction that don't involve Movicol? This week we ended up seven days of withholding.

The Movicol makes her poos bigger as they hold water and we have to wipe her (she’s 9 and has Special Neeeds) The Dr has recommended senna to try instead of the movicol. Not sure what to do as it seems constant. Anyone have any advice ?

every time I take it I feel sick and it doesn't soften my stool (at least not the left side of my abdomen) . Maybe it's my other meds (olanzapine, Zolpidem, lorazepam, dycloverine/alverine), but if you're feeling sick bloated, left sided stool feels harder than before you took it and you've sweating

He’s now on movicol but still nothing after 2 days. he’s looking pale and tired all the time so starting to worry this is affecting his health. I’ve been told about a medication that they take that doesn’t allow them to withhold as it stops them having the control.

He is still having 1 sachet of movicol every morning. We have tried giving him another dose of movicol last night, warm baths, rubbing his tummy and there has been nothing. What should I do? Continue with senna or stop? How can I get him to poo?
