Movicol

Anyone got any tips on how to find out why 4 year old poos in pants he is on movicol/laxido and will go on potty /toilet after meal times and will poo if he needs to at those times but then but at school (normally during carpet time) he will go in pants or if we are out.

The Dr prescribed him movicol and I have been giving him one a day but it seems to have made him soil more. I have tried leaving off it for a week or so and then he didn’t go at all and had watery leakage so I started it again.

I have used both - stick out for Movicol.

Movicol vs cosmocol. Hello, our consultant prescribed movicol but our GP insisted that cosmocol is the same and will only prescribe that. The ingredients look almost identical but our consultant clearly wanted us to move from cosmocol to movicol. Anyone else know any differences? Thanks folks

We’re doing a disimpaction this week while we are off school, and I’m currently upping the movicol daily. My question is, once we get to the watery stage, and want to reduce movicol, do we cut straight back to our maintenance dose or do it slowly? Thanks in advance 😊

We’ve been with the paediatrician for a year now, on Movicol and Pico sulphate. It was looking better; we had reduced the Movicol to half or one sachet on the days she didn’t poo, to the point where she was off it all together. Then about a month ago her poo became constantly liquid.

We are on day 9 of disimpaction and second day of 12 sachets of movicol but think my son is still only at stage 6 on the bristol stool chart. It is liquid but is quite thick. Does it need to be completely watery to be stage 7? Do I keep going at 12 sachets?

MY vision is very blurry with black specs, My bowels do not work and its a daily battle with 2 x ducolax , 1 x phosphate enema and 2 x movicol daily , if i dont go daily my symptoms get worse . my tongue is swollen and painful. I have ear , bladder and skin infections recurrent .

My daughter is on 2 sachets of movicol a day and 7.5 senna a day. Her stomach is swollen and she has not had a normal poo for years. My question is how do you tell the difference between overflow and just normal diahorrea? She was diss impacted in February and March.

My friend went on to say that because of this, Movicol is the preferred treatment; it it is considered to have no side effects and creates the right consistency for healing to take place. 3 months of porridge like poo is required to allow the fissure to heal.

He had the movicol prep before capsule endoscopy & it didn’t do a thing, in fact no bowel motion for a week after. So that was a big factor in his diagnosis I think. His bowels aren’t a big problem usually, just once a week he may feel constipated.

Hi I'm looking for some advice my son is currently on 6 sachets of movicol a day. And I'm travelling out of London from Gatwick Airport. Has anyone travelled with quite a large amount of movicol I'm going for 2 weeks so works out about 90 sachets I'll have to take with me.

My 3 year old is currently taking 8 movicol a day to try and clear her impaction. That’s not easy to get a stubborn toddler to do but we’re managing anyway I was what people’s experiences were after. Did this solve the problem or is it something on going?

He felt her abdominal and told us there was no backlog of poop, but upped her movicol from 1 sachet to 2 sachets, and said if it got too runny to cut it back to 1 sachet with 5ml picosuplhate. Which is what she’s been on for about a month.

Shout out to the movicol mummies trying to adjust the maintenance dose to maintain a good sausage! Trying to work out if the yucky stuff is overflow or the dose is too high! Shout out to all those with kids for whom the long awaited ‘wonder drugs’ oxybutynin and Solefenacin did nothing at all!

He isn’t constipated, drinks lots of water and is on movicol from when he did have a constipated phase. My family constantly badger him about using the toilet, no matter how much we tell them not to.

We have just done the disimpaction treatment using Movicol and are currently trying to find our maintenance dose. She still refuses to use the toilet or even tell us when she needs to go. Only letting me know after she has pooed in her knickers.
