About to start disimpaction treatment.....
(He was diagnosed as having IBS age 3) We are going to start
Movicol
soon, how realistic are the time guidelines? We were told after a week he would be cleared out yet from reading other posts I think that it might take longer.

Docusate v macrogol?
I have obstructive defecation syndrome (anismus) and have been taking macrogol (
Movicol
) for some time but this was making the motions too loose to push out effectively.

Toddler Soiling up to 10 Times Per Day - STRESSED OUT MUM - HELP!
She was prescribed
Movicol
which helped and all was great. We managed to toilet train her in November and she was doing really well until a week before Christmas when she started having up to 10 soiling accidents per day. The GP thought this was overflow so asked us to continue with
Movicol

When to wean off the movicol maintenance dose?
She has a maintenance dose of 2 sachets of
movicol
that I tried to wean down to 1.5 a couple of weeks ago but after lots of soiling in nursery I went back up to 2 again about a week ago. When should I think about reducing the
movicol
again? Or should I stay at 2?

Bladder training - advised to go every 2 hours but my son can only manage 30-40 minutes.
He is on
movicol
in case he is constipated. We have seen a paediatrician and a urologist both of whom advise that he should pee every 2 hours. I'm so confused.

Nearly 4.5yr old son still having accidents both urine and faeces, will use toilet when took or sent, but not telling anyone he needs to go.
My son was trialled on
movicol
a while ago, but it was stopped after a week, as watery stools. Didn't need it really, but wanted to rule out constipation causing the accidents. He has regular poos, around 4-5 per week.

Reduction in movicol dose = bedwetting
Just wondering if anyone has tried to wean off
movicol
and it's then caused an increase in bedwetting?

2.5year old withholding and is now refusing toilet/potty sits.
He is on daily
movicol
(it's adjusted every day depending on how long he holds on for) and after 3 days of holding, I start the stimulant (doctors advice). Any advice would be very welcome. I'll try anything.

8 year old son anal skin tags and fear of pooing
He is on
Movicol
so his poo is soft. I think it doesn't hurt as much as he says and it's more a psychological fear. Does anyone have any advice please? Are we doing the right thing by letting him decide when he tries?

5 days of withholding... do I increase Movicol or need suppository or laxative?
We’ve been on maintenance
Movicol
1/day for my 3 year old & made great progress. She’s been withholding lately & we’ve now gone 5 days without a poo. So, I increased the
Movicol
to 1.5 for the last 2 days (ie when we got to 3rd day of no poo).

Please help - first time disimpacting
He suggested 16
movicol
sachets per day but we just can’t get that amount into her. Maybe managing 9 plus 10 mls picosulphate. This has been since Wednesday and she’s only had 2 dirty nappies. Both very loose with lots of undigested food.

11 year old boy, occassional soiling -round lumps
He has just started on
movicol
, which has him pooing 3 times a day (Bristol 5), while previously he was going only every 4 days. Is that a backlog coming out? Would that shift any longterm backlog which may have accumulated.

Constipation and leaking wee!
Over the years we have done several disimpactations and we finally got it under control where she was on half a sachet if of
movicol
daily. But we find she’ll do really well for 6 weeks or so and then she’ll have a few days of no poo and we’re back to square one.

Alternative to movicol for disimpaction?
From reading all the posts on this site, it seems
movicol
is the best for disimpaction but is there any other medicine I can disimpact her with? She hates the
movicol
and vomits it back up. Maybe I just need to up the dosage of lactulose?

Bowel prep for colonoscopy - long post. Sorry.
The doc recommended "Picolax" plus some
Movicol
(softener). But I also purchased some softener and Dulcolax tablets from chemist to start things moving. By Friday, I had still not received the Picolax from hospital so i had to call them.

Feeling helpless
I've had all the tests and gastroenterologist has just said to take
movicol
everyday and use epsom salts once a month. I've been on low fodmap for much longer than I should be too and I just don't know where else to turn, I'm so fed up with it running my life but nothing seems to work.
