Disimpaction?

Hi, my son (10) has been on Solafenacin and 3 sachets of Movicol daily for a year for daytime dripping (urine) and his small overactive bladder. He doesn't seem to have any bowel problems, goes daily and they're soft. We've struggled for years to try and improve his bladder issues but we just don't seem to be getting anywhere fast and he's going to secondary school in September. We did a full and proper disimpaction last April which didn't really make any difference. However, I noticed recently that every so often he would have 3 or 4 bowel movements in one day and wondered if there could be something going on with his bowels which isn't quite right. I doubled his Movicol dose for a week and found that his bladder was less overactive. I'm going to keep him on the higher dose of Movicol but I'm in a such a dilemma about trying another disimpaction? We're not with the Continence Team anymore as they said they had done all they could and passed us to paediatric urology (appointment not til August). Sorry for the long post, any advise would be very much appreciated 🙂

Hiya Teddy,

It can be very nerve-wracking to manage your child's bowel and bladder issues! If you want to ask a few questions about anything bowel or bladder related you are very welcome to call or message our Helpline - see here for how to contact us: eric.org.uk/helpline.

We also have our nurse explaining how to fully disimpact here: eric.org.uk/bowel-problems-....

I hope that helps.
