Diagnosis was difficult, doctors could not work out what was wrong with me! Viral meningitis became meningi-encephalitis (excuse spelling!)
Viral meningitis should be taken more seriously. I ended up in hospital for 3 months, i had to learn to walk again and my recent memory was affected. With me the viral meningitis caused encephalitis. I spent a week in intensive care then a lot of time recovering. Eight years on and i still feel very

Does the after effects get reduced with time or it goes on deteriorating worrying about it ?
I am also very glad that i found this website. I have been reading your stories from past few hours. All of us are going through a very hard time. I think i was also contracted with some meningitis at the age of 4 when i had a serious headache. Docs said to my parents that they may have seen symptoms

How do you "carry on" with life, when your 23-year old dies from a vaccine preventable disease, that you didn't even knew existed?
Since his death, I have spent countless hours trying to figure out how I didn't know. I now know he died of politics in the province of BC, Canada. Our Government doesn't think there is enough incidents of death or disease to warrant the 4-strain meningitis vaccine in our Public Immunization Program

Symptoms of meningitis
As many of you will know from personal experience, meningitis can be difficult to diagnose in the early stages. As winter approaches, we usually see a rise in cases of bacterial meningitis. Make sure that all your family and friends are aware of the signs and symptoms of meningitis: http://www.meningitisnow.org

Headaches Mostly Gone 80 days later
This is meant to be an encouraging uplifting post for anyone just getting or who is recently recovering from meningitis. I am about 80 days removed from an aseptic meningitis two week stay in the hospital. The diagnosis was partially treated bacterial meningitis. I am happy to report I have resumed

Chronic Meningitis? Anyone know much about it?
Hi all, I am very fortunate to be recovering from chronic meningitis, which I had late 2011. Most of 2012 was a tough slog, but I've been fortunate to improve throughout the year and head into 2013 very optimistic. Had some complications that delayed my recovery, but seemingly mending well now.

Is it normal to be tired and sleeping a lot after meningitis?
My son was hospitalized for pneumonia, then was discharged for one night and went back again for meningitis. He was discahrged yesterday but am worried as he is tired, sleeps a lot and doesn't want to move. Is this normal? will he go back to normal or does that mean that something was affected

In need of answers for viral meningitis and the recovery
Its been 8 days since my daughter who's 16 came out of hospital after contracting VM. It's been approximately 3 weeks since she experienced the first headache. To be honest i feel really guilty because it was 5 days with persistent headache and continual vomiting before taking her to A and E where

Does anyone get very out of breath, post viral meningitis.
I had viral meningitis in June, now sleep most days as im always so tired and very out of breath just by walking short distances. Was curious if this has anything to do with meningitis or if it could be something else. I have told my doctor but she does not seem to want to do anything about it. My

Are people always left with health issues after meningitis ?
My mum had pneumococcal meningitis in the new year (2012) . She was on life support for 5 days and high dependancy for a week after that , but gradually with help and determination she is almost back to her pre-meningitis self although she is now deaf in one ear and sometimes feels as though she is almost

5 months since diagnosis of Viral Meningitis and still suffering.
I am a mother of three young children (ages 5, 3 and 1) and can not figure out how to get over this illness. I never spent time in the hospital as I was already feeling a little better once I finally got diagnosed two weeks into my symptoms. I caught a random cold last week and although I am on antibiotics
